No Ban In Bitcoin Trading In India

As of April 5, 2018 the Reserve Bank of India RBI will not be doing business with anyone that is associated with cryptocurrencies.

Indian banks and other financial institutions in the country are given three months to cease the support.

However, an online Indian trading company, Unocoin said that there is really not much to worry about since RBI have not deemed bitcoin trading illegal as it has not stated that bitcoin is illegal currency.

Furthermore there had been no funds that have been frozen and banks have not alerted Unocoin of any policy changes.

To date the government of India is still working on actively regulating cryptocurrency.

Bitfinex Listed 12 New Tokens For Broader Range Of Innovative Digital Assets

The largest Bitcoin exchange , Bitfinex has added in its platform the following tokens:

This comes as a surprise to many crypto investors as these tokens are considered “dark-horses.”In addition gaining acceptance to such a major exchange rarely comes for free.

One notable token among the list is MakerDoas Dai which is a stablecoin build on Ethereum.

This move seems to be moving away of the platform from another stablecoin Tether (USDT) who many think as a ticking bomb.

Coinbase To Be A “Licensed Brokerage Firm And US Compliant Electronic-Trading Venue”

“The Wall Street Journal” reports that Coinbase began talks with SEC to become a fully licensed and U.S. regulations compliant brokerage.

Coinbase is situated in San Francisco and is bound to U.S. Financial Laws. Becoming a licensed broker will help it to hit the mainstream as it will remove some regulatory ambiguity of US regulations.

This cames after a recent spate of development activities such as ERC20 support, Launching of three financial instruments, acquiring Barclays bank account and U.K. e-money license, Segwit completion, coinbase commerce integrations and Bitcoin Cash (BCH) listing.

A clear indication that Coinbase is not slowing down in cementing their place as one of the major crypto force in the U.S.

Despite Price Fall, Bitcoin Adoption Is Increasing In The U.S. And Canada

Despite major corrections in recent months adaptation of bitcoin is growing in the U.S. as well as Canada.

Newegg has expanded its bitcoin integration allowing millions of its customers in Canada to purchase with bitcoins.

Bitpay’s CEO Stephin Pair, the payment processor that is handling bitcoin payments for Newegg, said that this move will spur growth for BItcoin adaptation in the said country.

Aside from Newegg other online retailers have has accepted bitcoin as a payment method such as overstock, Expedia, egifter, Gyft, Dish and CheapAir.

Many believe mature as the market grows and matures and regulations are being set bitcoin will evolve into a global digital currency that is widely accepted by many more retailers.

The Chairman Of SEC Does Not Believe That All Initial Coin Offerings Are Fraudulent

During a speech in Princeton University last April 5, 2018 Jay Clayton, the chairman of Securities and Exchange Commission of the U.S. clarified that he does not believe that all initial coin offering are fraudulent.

He however emphasizes the need for regulatory scrutiny to stamp out the “bad actors” which will be beneficial in the long ran for cryptocurrencies.

This will ensure that no hard-line stance will be taken by the government if these “bad actors” will be given a chance to give the entire space a bad name.

Cboe President urged SEC to allow crypto ETFs as he believes that there is enough pricing sources for cryptocurrency ETFs to create robust and consistent valuations for digital assets.
