Litecoin vs. Ethereum: what better to go for?

in #cryptocurrency6 years ago (edited)

The fact that there is a top 20 of cryptocurrency clearly indicates that since the arrival of Bitcoin quite a few altcoins have arisen. Two well-known altcoins, which seem to have a lot of potential, are Litecoin and Ethereum. But which is better to invest in? We examine both altcoins.

Old vs. young
Where Litecoin is one of the older cryptocurrency, Ethereum was only created in 2015. It is a good sign that Litecoin has already survived all this time and that it is still going well. On the other hand, it is also impressive that Ethereum managed to raise to number two within a few years and to have as much (if not more) name recognition as Litecoin. You can trade both coins at most trade fairs. However, it seems that Litecoin is more used as a payment method.

Scarcity or abundance
Another difference between the two cryptocurrency is that Ethereum seems to be able to continue indefinitely, while there are a total of 84 million Litecoin tokens in total. The question is whether 84 million is enough to keep the network running, since it is the intention that Litecoin is implemented worldwide. The Ether stock does not seem to cause problems in the short term. On the other hand, perhaps because of the limited stock, Litecoin could be a good investment. If the tokens become scarce, the price could still quite well rise.

Price vs. processing speed
If we look at the transactions, we can see that they are cheaper at Litecoin, but that the processing times at Ethereum are much faster. Litecoin processes around 50,000 transactions per day, compared to sometimes a million at Ethereum. When we look at Bitcoin, around 230,000 transactions take place per day. So although the costs at Litecoin are lower, people still seem to go for the speed of Ethereum. One advantage of Ethereum compared to Litecoin is that the cryptocurrency supports smart contracts. Certain rules and data are laid down in contracts, which can also enforce these rules themselves. With smart contracts, certain middlemen are no longer needed, so that the transactions can take place so much faster.

I like Litecoin better. I dont like Ethereum because it cannot scale and its slow. Also Dapps built on Ethereum are not agile for changes and updates which is no good.
I would say the best top 10 altcoin is EOS actually. Thats my opinion of course. Thanks @cryptovisitor for the great content
