Litecoin's block mining reward halves every 840,000 blocks, the coin reward will decrease from 25 to 12.5 coins.
LiteCoin has made HUGE gains again lately, for various reasons.
-- The policy/politics of Bitcoin and their struggles to address the scaling issues, the potential resulting (now, NEXT) fork from these issues, 3-5 types (forks) of $BTC on the market and more potentially coming, it is kind of a mess. But improving.
LiteCoin has none of these problems, and in fact, their miners DID adopt SegWit activation about 5 mths. ago now.
LiteCoin shares the Bitcoin codebase, if you did not know. They have implemented the Lightning Network as well a few weeks ago.

Yeah, SatoshiLite (Charlie Lee) is the man. He is now super active behind making Litecoin a Super coin.
Many new things to come and already achieved by Litecoin;
BTC will be the KING and have an application as Currency but LTC will be much more than that.
LTC is catching up the gap between Bitcoin and itself. Technically the ratio is 1BTC to 4 LTC which doesn't seem likely but 1BTC to 30LTC seems possible in near future.
I won't be surprised to see LTC in between 120 to 160 soon. Keeping my fingers crossed. Three cheers to Litecoin and the man behind it. This is a golden opportunity hidden behind the Silver. Invest wisely...
The LiteCoin bubble was generated simply from a tweet from ex-bitcoin con Charlie. I've been following him for a while and he's a cool guy. Sometimes he just doesn't know when to stop. But I think Litecoin has tremendous potential and hope he keeps driving up the price and usage. Everyone should own at least one LiteCoin.

@mralan, Yes I do agree that Charlie Lee is very active on twitter but it's not just the tweet text that matters but the meaning behind it. Yes, he is promoting his own coin but he is also making amazing enhancements as stated above. He is making many tweets but when people realize and know the real potential it starts rising.
Also if it would have been just a pump due to his tweet, I am sure it would have gone back low by now. Litecoin's potential is immense and $100 by this year end is sure. Though doing your own research is very important and that's the reason I mentioned LTC's progress above so that people are aware of the good changes happening to the coin.
I want LTC to really really make it BIG time for lots of reasons.
Not all of which have all to do with my holding some, for my own gain either.
I believe it can honestly help change the world.
Litecoin is far better than BTC, fast and has a lower transaction fee. The only reason why BTC is on top is not.becasue of the demand and its value, but because the wall street investor is enjoying buying and selling. But in the real world, steem, litecoin, ETH and flashcoin is faster and far better than BTC, in my opinion.
Not just faster transactions @cloudspyder. It is suddenly growing for many reasons and not just one. Fluctuations is part of cryptos as it is traded across the globe but still whales could manage to fluctuate it by pumps and dumps.
But check out my comment on this post. Hope you get some idea with the development of this coin and the reason for this spike. Invest wisely...
