Genesis of BoatPilot
The idea was born already in 2012, when the future founder - Dmitry Donskoj had to use paper maps during a storm in the night to reach the marina with his yacht. His maritime navigation system was outdated and very flawed.
After careful analysis of the available equipment and software, Dmitry strengthened him in his conviction - changes are necessary. When compared, the GPS automotive market was almost perfect, where the sea navigation system had to be paid around 10,000 - 20,000 USD for obsolete and irrelevant data. The idea of using the community was not new - however few people get the idea to use it in marine navigation.
The way to solve the problem of weak sea navigation was to create BoatPilot aplication. It collects data and aggregates it also allows the community to continuously edit and update it. It is important to understand that in private sailing current reviews and comments are just as important as information about the beacon. The situation can be so variable that unfavorable winds, underwater currents or sunken ships can make it very difficult to implement previously planned plans. Just like in the car traffic - current information on the road often determines, for example, to change the road in order to reach the previously intended destination. At the moment, BoatPilot charts cover the whole of Europe and the project is ready to enter the US market. To do this, the project collects funds from ICO.
BoatPilot Project
BoatPilot Project it is above all a platform for sea navigation. It combines Google maps and TripAdvisor in one software. It is a system, constantly updated by participants to make it as current as possible. The application for Android can be downloaded by entering "BoatPilot" sentences in Google Play. In addition to the mentioned navigation, this application presents such important points for every person moving on the sea like ports, seaside restaurants or lighthouses.
BoatPilot also consists of two other applications: Pocket Skipper and BoatGod. Pocket Skipper is an application that supports all other services such as brokerage (sale or rental of various types of yachts). BoatGod is the hardware part of the project. This module connects directly to any ship from which it collects data and transmits it via Wi-Fi. Geo-navigation can be used on mobile devices, which definitely increases the usability of the entire project. The three above modules cooperate with each other, provide a comprehensive service needed for every amateur as well as a professional sea traveler.
The team
It is very strong. These people are not accidental and have been working for real estate or finance for many years. We will mention a few of them here
- Artem Borodin CEO – senior currency market analyst. Assistant to the director of the brokerage house, Waluty Managers LLC. Artem was responsible for development
and implementing sales strategies as well as all clients
communication with potential private and corporate clients
for three years. - Andrey Domaratsk CMO – IT projects investor since 2010. In 2011, he became one of the co-founders and marketing director of Corsair Adventures - a company operating in the yacht industry
- Dmitry Donskoy COO – main originator of the project. From 2011 co-founder, co-owner and director of charter companies Corsair Adventures and North Sails Montenegro. In 2002-2008, he was the director of Simcon - a company specializing in offshore programming. Sailor sportsman since 1998, Dmitry has over 10,000 miles as skipper in the Mediterranean and Atlantic. Dmitry has extensive experience in investments in various areas of sailing companies (service and operation). This gave Dmitrik the opportunity to be an expert in the IT and maritime navigation industry, allowing to understand the needs of sailors and the way of thinking of entrepreneurs.
Summarizing Analyzing the project I am more and more convinced of it. BoatPilot comprehensively solves the needs of sailors from sea navigation by specifying key objects for sailors to sell and rent yachts. An extensive offer in one project will allow to satisfy the needs of amateurs as well as professionals of individual maritime shipping, which will contribute to the success of the project.
