Amex launches Block-chain-based business payments using Ripple
American Express has introduced instant blockkchain-based payments using a fintech start-up using Ripple money for UK corporate businesses for UK corporate clients, which is a bank with Santander UK.
American Express said that its FX International Payments (FXIP) business had partnered with Wave to provide real-time, trackable non-card payments from the US to the UK. Customers are already using the service, the companies said, and it will be expanded in the future. This is one of the first major uses of BlockChain, a shared database of transactions created by a network of computers on the Internet, which is known as system based on bitcoin.
Financial companies hope that innovative techniques can reduce the cost and complexity of cumbersome procedures like securities settlement and international payments, but many people say that the vast use of technology is still many years away.
American Express's Chief Information Officer Mark Gordon said in a statement, "American Express has a long history of integrating new technologies ..." "This collaboration with Ripple and the Santander represents the next step on our blockchain journey, the way we take money from all over the world." The New York-based Ripple, whose main objective is Block-chain based cross-border payment, works with many large banks and is supported by companies like Standard Chartered PLC, Accenture Plc (ACN) and SBI Holdings.
The company is in a legal battle with Rival Blockchain Startup R3 Holdco LLC on an option contract for the purchase of Ripples's digital currency XRP. XRP value has increased by more than 30 times because other cryptocurrencies have also increased.
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse said in a statement, "Transfer that used to take the day will be completed in real time, so that the money in today's business will grow faster".
