Players have spent the equivalent of $6.7 million and counting buying CryptoKitties, which can sell for as much as $114,481.59 for the most expensive ones, according to third-party research from developer Niel de la Rouviere. Remember, this is a single application running on Ethereum network that literally overwhelmed the traffic and skyrocketed the gas price.

The Next Big Thing?

After all of the craze going on with CryptoKitties, a new game called CoinStacks has just launched in the Ethereum Community, and is catching people’s attention.

The rule is really simple. You can purchase a coin and place it on top of other players’ coins, and when other players place another coin on top of yours, you will get double your amount. For example, let’s say you purchase a coin at the second level, which costs you 0.01 ETH. When other player spends 0.02 ETH to buy a coin on top of yours, you get the amount (minus 1% fee charged by CoinStacks), which is 0.0198. So you can almost double the ether you have.

There are limited columns where you can place your coin. When all the columns are unlocked, the stacks can only grow up. So it ensures that players will get their reward quicker.

In terms of gameplay, CoinStacks is very straightforward compared to other trading games like CryptoKitties. And you can be certain that your coin is not going to depreciate in value.

Can it be the next CryptoKitties who has thousands of Ether of trading volume? No one can answer that. But the straightforward gameplay and the high returns are attracting players to join. There definitely seems to be a lot of potential for this game, and nobody knows how far it will go.
