How To Cash Flow Your Crypto

in #crypto6 years ago (edited)

One of the reasons I love Chiang Mai and decided to come here for awhile is ‘cause there are awesome people here talking about and doing amazing things.

And you know what they say (by they, I mean Jim Rohn)…

'You’re the average of the 5 people ya hang out with the most.'

If you’re growth-minded and always want to be improving yourself, then you never want to be the smartest person in the room (which is pretty easy for me to accomplish because I was dropped on my head as a baby… okay, maybe not, but it would explain a lot).

One of those awesome people doing amazing things is @ashe-oro. I stalked him on the interwebz thoroughly enough to be able to say that with confidence.

Side note: Isn’t it weird how stalking on the internet is acceptable, but stalking from the bushes is creepy? On Steemit, we’re basically begging people to stalk us. But if anyone from Steemit showed up outside our window uninvited, we’d be totally freaked out.

I guess I just won’t tell him that I also maybe did the bushes thing, too. 😄 Kidding.

Every Friday night, at a place called Food 4 Thought someone speaks about an interesting topic.

Ashe spoke over a month ago, so this post is pretty long overdue ...

...but it’s still worth talking about. I also have to give him credit for the title of this post, ‘cause that was his presentation title. See?

Here’s the link to his presentation slides if you wanna see:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1npjHv-lwRa6TFEU-oyDgJBNToP3TbgOD/view

I’ll give you the crazy short version of his talk about how to make $$$ with crypto:

1) Forks Happen

You get $$ when people fight about what the fork ever, and cause the blockchain to split. Like the Litecoin fork that just happened. You got free Litecoin Cash if you were hodling Litecoin (as long as you weren’t hodling on Coinbase).

2) Airdrops (not to be confused with Airbud, the cute dog from the 90s)

(Pic taken from Amazon)

Airdrops are basically when a blockchain project gives free coins to the community to promote their project. Aka market the crap out of it and create hype and community. If you have questions, I can explain more in the comments if you want to know more. Or you can go ask @ashe-oro, he's pretty good at explaining these things.

3) Proof of Stake - Staking Coins

Basically, you stake your coins in a wallet and earn interest on them essentially. Right now I’m kind of hungry and wish I could steak my coins instead of stake my coins. I really want to make them turn into a juicy steak.

4) Host a Master Node

I actually first found out about hosting master nodes when I was reading the white paper for Substratum, so it was cool that Ashe talked about hosting nodes. He mentioned that he doesn’t actually host any, himself, though.

With hosting nodes, you have to stake a minimum # of coins, and you need to run a server to host transactions.

Since Substratum is the only one I know about, so I’ll talk about that. If you run a node for Substratum, you get paid Substratum to forward website content to other people. The reason for this is so that people who live in places where some websites are censored or not allowed, they will be able to see it if it is hosted by Substratum.

It’s decentralized internet!

5) Lastly, if you’re a big whaley 🐳, you can delegate your influence on Steemit!

K, you can also be a 🐬. I think you can delegate 100 SP as the minimum, but that's not very much. Use sites like www.minnowbooster.com to delegate or loan out your SP to other people for awhile. Here’s a pic from Ashe’s presentation showing how much you can make doing this:

Here's a great article by @minnowbooster to explain it in more detail!

So, that’s the short version of his presentation. He technically put forks and airdrops together, and I separated them out, which is why his list has 4 and mine has 5.

Thanks @ashe-oro for the great presentation, and it was great meeting ya! Thanks for sharing steemit love with the world!

I thought Airdrops was Airbud's droppings. I guess I should pick them up and ....hoard it next time?

I believe that steak coins (cryptos that can into juicy stakes within seconds) could be the next big thing! Please tell me, if you hear of an ICO for that, I will invest for sure! 😋

Hahaha I wish my upvote was worth more so you could buy a crypto steak with it.

Maybe it would be my next journey, coz for this year i have a plan to go to brunei darussalam

I hope you have fun there!

Thank you. Maybe we can share each other about traveling

I need to come to Chiang Mai! Who needs silicon valley

Will drop you all a message when I fix a date.

Cool! I'm leaving for a few months for burning season (and a visa run). Unless I fall in love with somewhere else, I'll be back.

Wow, how long have you been in Chiang Mai?

I am going Cambodia with my girlfriend for my birthday hopefully in April. So I could do a trip to Chiang Mai.

Is there a large steemit community there?

Will someone accept STEEM for rent?

Surprisingly there's not a huge steemit community here! There are bigger communities in India, Vietnam and Cebu!! I would accept Steem for rent! 😀 I've been in Chiang Mai for about a month and a half.

Perfect, will let you know when I have some fixed dates. I will most likely be with my girlfriend, so as long as you have room for two, happy to stay with you and pay in STEEM!

I will only write about the fifth one and this doesn’t mean I’m a big fan of the other four, especially #3.

It’s a bad idea to rent your influence on steemit. People who don’t have any stake in Steem use your Steem Power to get a piece of the reward pool.

50% of it is liquid. That means they can cash it out immediately and the rest in 3 months.

While you hold the bags for them, they make a killing on the platform and run away with their rewards. As a result the value of the platform and Steem goes down and you lose money.

Do you think most people do that? Cash out and run away never to be seen again? Thanks for adding your thoughts!

I didn’t say never to be seen again. From that perspective, it makes sense to repeat this cycle as long as steem is worth something, but as soon as steem loses value, I don’t think they’d hang around much.

Since they don’t carry a considerable amount of Steem Power, nothing keeps them on the platform.

If there are people who rent Steem Power for idealistic reasons, fair enough, but that doesn’t seem to be the majority to me.

Oh alright! Thanks for clarifying.
