Let me explain...

It was back at the end of 2017 when I made my very first crypto investment. BTC. I was a noob to say the least, yet I was fascinated with the concept.

My loss, even though it did partly come from the price drop, is from investing fiat into BTC mining packages through a company I won’t name.

This company was very reputable, but unfortunately my mining packages got affected when they had to halt business operations in the US and Canada back in early 2018.

Needless to say, the packages that were bringing in BTC are no longer doing so which basically means I took about five hundred bucks and flung it out the window.

I realize that almost everyone has been affected by the recent bear market, we all need to HODL and wait until the bull comes out again.

The bright side that I wanted to mention here is that Steem is turning my losses into gains. I’ve been able to earn tokens on my blog thanks to this supportive community.

At this point, I’m continually earning back more tokens to start making up for the loss I had with those BTC packs. I don’t feel as bad giving up that fiat. After all, it was a learning experience that made me stronger in the end.

I believe that the company is still trying to repay people but it’s taking a looong time. Not going to hold my breath on that one.

So thank you Steem community for making up for that mishap that took place. Not only that, but I gained something more valuable than money. Relationships. Human interaction and connectedness.

Thanks for reading my story. You mean the world to me. -Ken

P.S. Fun fact... I am using a new app called InstaSize to edit photos. I’m on a trial 7-day membership so I’ll see how I’m feeling at the end of the week. Cheers 🥂

Let’s end this blog with a funny meme I saw the other day...

Experiencing your first major loss in a market crash is a valuable experience @kenmelendez and it can eventually lead us toward making better, and possibly more profitable investment decisions in the future.

I wish you all the best and appreciate your presence, work and personality on the Steem blockchain ☺✌

Thank you.

Till this day I have sold two time of steem. So I want to stay on seemit platform.I thnik it is a great platform.

In the midst of Venezuela's agony, Steemit has become an opportunity to obtain some real money - unfortunately our currency, the Bolivar, is worth nothing. Although perhaps I haven't done as well as I think my post deserve, I've decided to stay constant. The real thing is that what you said is very true: "I gained something more valuable than money. Relationships. Human interaction and connectedness".

To that I would add: Steemit allows me to feel part of the world beyond our small local tragedy.

I would love to read more information from a Steemian about surviving a currency crisis. Let me know if you write any English posts about this @yomismosoy.

P.S. It's possible that a country like the Philippines (my home) or even the United States, will experience a currency crisis too - Some people are actually expecting it, and others (like me), at least want to prepare for it (just in case).

Good to hear that steem is helping.you recover all your loss. Even I'm counting on steem to pay my losses. I have invested good amount of time on steemit. It better pays back well.

You’re right about the the loss being a learning experience that helped you get stronger in the end. I’ve experienced this myself. I think you’ll earn more than 10 times the $500 you lost from the steemit community. You’ve brought a lot of value to this blockchain and it will reward you in the end. Heck! It has already been rewarding you. I know I’m proud of you and I know I don’t stand alone in thinking that. Take care brother 👊🏾😁

I don't know what world you live in but not all women or men are like that. Glad Steemit worked out for you. :)

That meme is obviously a joke. And yes, Steem rocks 👊🏻

Investment in the blockchain is very risky. You must be prepared for the worst. I wish you success..

I agree @elia34928.

I'm not predicting this, but another cryptocurrency crash, BEFORE the reversal, is possible.
