People paying WHAT for BCH on Coinbase??

in #crypto7 years ago

I had just gotten home from work and immediately logged into my Bittrex account and noticed the big spike in BCH. Unbelievable. Glad I held from the fork and bought some when it was cheaper but that's not the point of my post...

The driver behind this rally is BCH being listed on Coinbase from what I understand. Coinbase is notorious for high prices so I was curious what people are paying and I about fell out of my chair when I saw it. So do you want to see what the going rate is on Coinbase? Check out this madness.

$8,500 per BCH!!

Ok John quit exagerrating, it's only $8499.03. Whatever. Close enough.

I was shocked to see it hit over 4K on Bittrex briefly but holy sh**! Paying over a 100% markup? I hope for everyone's sake BCH goes past 10k on ALL exchanges some day. I know there's a lot of noobs just getting into the crypto market but if they had just bought BTC or ETH on Coinbase and transferred to Bittrex or Kraken they could have paid a more reasonable...

$3500 on Bittrex

OR $3,600ish on Kraken

I thought I was FOMOing when I made my last buy in the $1300's recently but now that buy looks pretty damn good!

And I wish all the folks rushing in to buy on Coinbase above $8,000 the best of luck. It could get there on all the exchanges in a day or two with the crazy rallies we've seen the past few weeks like with EOS, Ripple, Ethereum, and many others. If it does go to $8k on Bittrex or others Coinbase will probably have it at about the same price as bitcoin. Imagine that!

Good lord what a week!

I'm glad I started buying my cryptos in the summer. I can't help but think this is the opportunity of a lifetime, especially the Larimer projects which have all seen some nice gains in the past couple of weeks. I'm a holder of BTS, STEEM (power), EOS and about 9 other coins right now and I'm holding on for dear life until I can pay off my house and retire.

That's the dream anyway.

I can't wait to see what the price is when the dust settles. Anyone care to predict where it will be in a week?

I'm not giving trading advice or advice NOT to buy either. This is just a shocking observation I wanted to share with the community. Always do your own research before buying any crypto, stock, or anything else that can lose you a lot of money if you don't know what you're doing (and even if you do know what you're doing!).

OMG, it is really a strange thing. So huge difference between the prices.

I don’t think that $8,500 number is accurate. It’s been stuck on that exact number for over an hour now. And buys/sells of BTC haven’t been activated on Coinbase yet (at least not for me). I think it’s a bogus quote.

Right you are mr King

You know that at least a few people lost their asses buying at the absolute top thinking BCH was going to overtake BTC today.

Can any of you good folks tell me why anyone uses Coinbase anymore?
It's the most expensive, centralized and, as recent event would suggest, quite shady.
I get that it was the obvious choice at the beggining but there are lots of better alternatives right now. Specially if you want to participate in the big alt market.

It's my only gateway to buy crypto with USD at the moment. Been trying to get tier 3 on kraken but they keep rejecting my document scans even though the image settings fall within their required image size.

But yeah, They suck. THeir fees are outrageous and they're usually the most expensive. I only use them to buy ether or lite and transfer to another exchange to buy something else when the price is near what it is on the other exchanges. Sorry for the late replay.

If you know of another exchange where I can buy crypto using USD within the US I'd love to hear your input.

I would hope coinbase didn't actually charge people that much if it was in fact an error. wouldn't put it past them though.

Yeah don't know. How does coinbase set their prices? Are they like a normal exchange?

It’s a glitch. But still no of this is good for bitcoin or bitcoin cash

Crypto currencies are going mad with prices

I’ve checked out coinbase. They’ve corrected it. It isn’t close to that anymore.

It's fake. Friend of mine send his BCH to Coinbase and tried to sell it. But it only gave an error message.

I thought about doing that too as I hold some BCH on other exchanges but decided it sounded too good to be true and I was afraid the transfer to Coinbase may get lost...so I sat on my hands despite the temptation.

thank you for information friend , good luck
