SUMMARY:

Facebook is banning all crypto related ads, claiming to protect the general public from scams.

Just my two cents. (MY OPINION)

What I really think is that Facebook is trying to do is to slow down the general awareness of crypto currency on their platforms, so that Facebook can play catch up to compete with Ong, Steemit, Telegram, and InvestFeed.

(1) Although what Facebook says is true, that there are some fraudulent projects and scam coins looking to deceive people for a quick buck, there are more legit advertisers promoting their ico, brand, project, and website.

(Plese note I'm being sarcastic)

(2) What gives Facebook the right to stop me from engaging with these projects? Sometimes these ads are our first introduction to a very promising project. Why are they policing my interests with the cryptocurrency market?

(3) Didn't Mark Zuckerberg say just posted on facebook 3 weeks ago, that he is studying blockchain and is looking into incorporating blockchain tech into their business? And was it a coincidence that this announcement was released around the same time that other social network projects are also incorporating blockchain technology into their business such as Telegram, Sapien, Qbao, among few others. HE SHOULD BE SCARED OF THE TELEGRAM ICO

The things that make me go, "Hmmmm...."

I don't know what it is, but the mainstream media loves attaching cryptocurrency with scams, drugs, terrorism, prostitution, Russian brides, aliens, PTSD, Sleeping disorder, and genital herpes. I guess people are scared with what they don't understand and are looking to blame something.

Is Zuckerberg playing into this skewed view of what the mainstream media spews out? Is he the hero of Facebook that is looking out for their users' well being? Is he the one who will protect them from the "bad crypto monsters?" I bet that Zuckerberg is racing to complete his Blockchain projects for Facebook's platform, in order to stay relevant, and competitive.

Now, I love Facebook. I have 10 years of my life on here, and I would hate it if Facebook became an extinct social media platform (Who remembers MySpace? Friendster? MyFamily? Xanga?). I would hate to move to another platform and start all over, but if I had to, I would.

Why do I think Zuckerberg is just looking out for his own company's interests by having a blanket ban on anything and everything crypto? Because he's not an idiot. He's a smart business man who would have never made it this far unless he was shrewd and cunning. By doing this blanket ban, he is keeping crypto out of the mainstream (at least on Facebook and Instagram) until Facebook has a good working product to stay competitive. I wouldn't be surprised that when Zuckerberg lifts this ban, it will coincide with some new features, updates, products, or blockchain on Facebook. Anyone who knows about tech innovation knows that crypto is revolutionary and one of the hottest things being discussed now. This tech will not only save companies HUGE amounts of money, it can also help them make TONS more money.

Banning ads about crypto will not stop crypto from growing. It will not stop the thousands of new users that are flooding into the crypto market everyday. It will not slow the growth of this market. As friends share their experinces about crypto, more and more people will look for the news and find it outside of Facebook, like Reddit, Telegram, 4chan, Youtube, udemy, lynda, and consultants.

What I think facebook should do?

If Facebook does not become crypto friendly and figure out how to keep up, facebook will become a distant social media memory. Instead of banning anything crypto related, why not try embracing it? Imagine if someone could go to Facebook and get real and current news on the cryptocurrency market? Or get info on the latest projects and ICOs made easily available in one place.

Currently, people to go to so many different social media platforms to get this info. I personally spend hours a day on websites, twitter, reddit, 4chan, telegram, youtube, and facebook groups just to find out what's going on in the market. Imagine if there were other ways to engage with other crypto investors besides using Facebook groups?

Think BIGGER, Mark. Embracing the Crypto revolution will be far more lucrative for Facebook than banning ads. Mark. If you don't do it, someone else will! Don't contribute to the FUD!

Good information very helpful....i hope he knows what hes doing

i hope so.. To tell you the truth I think facebook killed the occulus project.

It's not that secret if it's on bussinessinsider and steem :) But seriously, I'm not sold on the idea that they're building something internally.

I hope that facebook do something with blockchain. Imagine how much money you can save by not running a centralized server but nodes in the internet to move data. Each node is paid a small fee for participation in the network. that would be awesome.

They sell that data to advertisers. They wouldn't risk giving it up under any circumstances. The only way they can employ blockchain is for some side project or for a site-wide currency, e.g. Telegram.
