suggestions?

Alt coins of crypto-currencies

Nowadays too many coins are released, relaunched or die.. But there are many opportunities in crypto-currencies.
I have some options..

  • Have some rigs, mining with PoW? or
  • Hunt some IPO/ICO or from Exchange Market, then keep it for PoS? or
  • Playing buy/sale in Exchange Market? or
  • Build another alt-coin?
  • Or .... .... ....

(I'll do some small research to break down these options..)

  • Have some Rigs for PoW

    • GPU Card (AMD/nVidia)
    • CPU and peripherals
    • Internet connection
    • Electricity
    • Room space
    • Wallets and Miners software
    • ---------- looks fun and yes, it's a lot todo!
  • Hunt for IPO/ICO/Exchange for PoS

    • Research for coins
    • History and Predictions
    • Buy or Leave
    • Internet connection
    • Electricity
    • Wallets software
    • 24/7 CPU for staking
  • Play in Exchange Market
    ... ...

  • Build another coin
    ... ...

Really need some suggestions for best future results....

Get in very early on a promising new project, and never feel bad about taking a x2 or x3 profit!

Mining or ICO.

Some x10+ examples have been:
Bitshares (PTS, AGS pre-sale and then Bitshares)
Ethereum (Pre-Sales)
And our own Steemit

Take the time to learn how to build and run a mining rig, learn how to use the hyperscale cloud providers for mining and follow the forums closely [Bitcoin Forum > Alternate cryptocurrencies > Announcements (Altcoins)] (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=159.0)

Post in steemit to ask us steemians if we think a project has promise and worth investing.

Top Tip : Get prepared to mine ZCash

  • Ethereum and the related crypto assets are a very interesting space and seem like they could be a great place to start (especially in small quantities). Although beware that they are currently undergoing a pump that may crash at any time.
    • Many of the recent Ethereum crypto assets (Augur, DigixDAO) were 2x-10x when they were first added to exchanges. They are still really high risk but small amounts can be very valuable after a 10x gain.
  • Mine ethereum to reduce or eliminate electricity bills (right now a mid to top end amd graphics card can net you up to $2 a day ) and also make some extra on the side. This is one crypto that does not seem to have the issue of exponential difficulty growth.
  • Diversify into everything from high-risk to low risk (crypto, peer-lending, 401K, raw stocks, mutual funds)

Do lots and lots of research and don't just listen to any one source and you will see the most benefit

I see..
One question, could you show me the easiest and best reference about the DAO (or token?) Seems hot, but it's not clear understand how it works compare to common altcoins.

https://daohub.org/ should be your best bet in somewhat understanding the idea.

Roughly, the DAO is a organiazation that you put your ether (ethereum token) into the contract and proposals are made to use the funds (hopefully with a strong strategy to produce profits) and users that own DAO tokens vote on the proposal. When voting closes if a quarum was reached the ether is sent to the proposer and they will attempt to produce profits for the investors. Last I checked 1.15 ether = 100 DAO tokens. The DAO also allows you to "Split" and obtain your ether back from the contract. You can only split with ether that was not used to vote/invest in a successful proposal.

That is a very rudimentary version of how the dao works. I would do some additional research and post any questions you have to /r/ethtrader or /r/ethereum, the community is helpful most of the time.

Side note on mining (ethereum sepcifically): if you are using a GPU make sure to use AMD cards. Buying a new mining rig can be a costly risk since there is no guarantee of making back your lost profits (but you may be able to use/resell the cards afterwards to make back some losses)

Hope this helps!

As a reference I have over 3 years in the crypto currency space with everything from mining, trading, research and on coins from Bitcoin, Ethereum and many altcoins that have collapsed.

(imho, read here and there..) the DAO, can be good for people or any start-up team, but on other hand, it might born more scammers or ponzi program.
I love Ether! I tried to mine it from one of cloud mining, which I'm saying is stupid.
3 years for many methods, algos, coins, etc.. it's long run, dude.. Let me ask you, is it worth?

I think so, Bitcoin seems so stuck and unable to make significant changes because of mining centralization. While Ethereum has been thriving and will still be minable for the next year

If you live in Italy, for Electricy cost, mining is proibitive. The profit/cost balance is really low. And if you get an hardware fault (psu or asic miners / graphic cards), all profit is lost. After a little time of mining, (btc with rockminer), i've switched from mining to exchange forex. I'm "playing" with exchange, like bitstamp or kraken.
However, An intresting coin is Ethereum, is growing right now. And mining eth can be profitable.

Steem powah

I suggest anyone who wants to speculate long term on cryptocurrency have a Cryptonote coin portfolio, with emphasis on Monero. Something like 60% Monero, 10% Boolberry, 10% Aeon, 10% DigitalNote, and even though it's allegedly pretty scammy, 10% Bytecoin.

And of course buy some Steem and power up your account. :)

·

Long term might good, personally I prefer for long term and valuable.
Anyway, why would have some percentages from those coins? Might you have some to explain from your speculate vision that Cryptonote base coin will going for long term, and not for another algorithms?

Cryptonote coins offer privacy, enabling them to be fungible. Bitcoin's lack of blockchain privacy means its fungibility is not guaranteed. This is becoming more evident over time and will increase the value of true privacy-oriented cryptocurrency. There are other privacy methods out there, but after reading a bit on the subject I think the method that Cryptonote coins use are so far the best available.

So, I understand you have a little more than $ 8k

In my country i have cheap electricity about 0.08$. This is the maximum rate
If I had 8100, I built a 3 rigs (with 5 R9 390)
Each somewhere 150 Mh/s (ethereum) + 3000-4000 Mh/s Decred (with dual miner)
It`s near 25-27$ for each per day
Payback about 120-150 days (I dont know how cost electricy in your country)

But, if it not possible. I`ll invest in these coin:

  • Ethereum (now PoW, but but if happen PoS - really good for you)
  • Lisk (PoS, interesting smart contracts with JavaScript language)
  • DAO (With each new round of investment do not show them to be as much for the money, they are doomed to growth)
  • DASH (slowly but steadily growing coin)
  • Storjcoin X and Sia (rather innovative approach with HDD and cloudstorage, but Storjcoin X more interesting and in my opinion, is actively developing)

How much budgets to cover for build another alt-coin? I'm just thinking might be for another option.

Gamebet will be good coin for perfect pump - good team & cheap ico price. You have still time for buy at lows

All the coins are one in the same in the blockchain. Each has it's own goals and modules that are run on the blockchain, inevitably to fork it then merge into one. Personally I like BTC>ETH>SP>LISK>Waves>UNITY>FCT>SIA>NASACOIN ( I think its going to be called ShuttleCoin ) .. If you are new to crypto-currency then research,research,research.. read about what you are buying and only sell to re-invest. Oh yea! ICO's are the best!!

Very good post. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. The quality coins are here to stay and it's like buying in at the S&P 500 50 years ago. Cryptos will fall and rise at a more rapit phase any investment market has ever seen. Just hold (literaly) and enjoy the ride. We really need more insights in the market and previous investment results (even though they don't deliver any guarantee for the future). I really advice people to take a look at: https://www.coincheckup.com They researched and analyzed every tradable coin out there from a investment, team, product, transparency perspective. Really interesting.
