Hunting for Icebergs: Visible on Invisible

in #creativity7 years ago

Gathered here are some of my favorite “iceberg” stories. Iceberg stories are tales of long, hard, unnoticed work eventually resulting in success. These are stories we all love to read, stories that many of us attempt to create.

Yes, social media and the internet in general seem to reinforce the “floating sheet of plywood” model, where everything is on the surface with no depth, but a perennial favorite is the iceberg.

Icebergs are metaphors for life itself. We humans are wired to love hard work, difficult challenges, travel through a deeper timespan, and ultimately success.

Here are a few of my faves today, enjoy!

What It Takes To Run A Company

How To Not Be A Starving Artist

Why You Should Create Crap

3 Attempts to Run 100 Miles

A Few Minutes Of Guitar That Took Years To Lean

All of these are “iceberg” moments, times when all of our unnoticed and uncared for efforts suddenly bubble up to the surface and for moments we are noticed, appreciated, enjoyed, and misunderstood.

It’s the beauty of the human condition, and I love every bit of it, from the deep base to the celebrated peak.

Revel in humanity, suffering, and achievement, amigos!
