What is Viton? 

Viton® is fluorocarbon rubber or FKM, it is known as fluorinated rubber. It is a thermopolymer of hexafluoropropylene, with vinylidene fluoride, tetrafluoroethylene and ether-fluoro-methylvinyl.

Fluorinated rubber is a material that stands out for its excellent resistance to heat, fuels and aggressive chemicals. There is a particular type of Viton® that will better cover your specific performance requirements.

The grades differ mainly in their chemical resistance. In specialized degrees, you can choose between those that specifically adapt to higher fluid resistances, those that perform at low temperatures or a combination of these situations.

Some features:

• Extraordinary resistance to temperature. In continuous up to 250ºC and intermittently up to 300ºC. 

• Extraordinary chemical resistance. 

• Self-extinguishing. 

• Excellent resistance to ozone and weather. 

• Excellent compression deformation at high temperatures. 

• Satisfactory resistance to cold: between -30ºC and -50ºC. 

• It is the synthetic rubber more resistant to hydrocarbons, both aliphatic and aromatic and chlorinated. 

• It has a great resistance to water and water vapor up to + 150ºC. 

• Excellent resistance to acids and alkalis. Even oxidants. 

• Weak resistance to esters and ketones. 

Do you think that this option can be used to manufacture seals or gaskets of "viton" fluorinated rubber ?
