Discussion: What is Your Favorite Form of Creativity?
I want to spend more time with art in 2018. There are so MANY interesting forms of #creativity, and they often help us stay balanced & relaxed, in some way. Painting, writing, music, photography... What is YOUR favorite form of creativity?
Cooking is one think I’ll be working on in 2018. Got myself a few new pans, and a spice rack with 20 jars. Blast if I know what to do with a few of these spices lol. Like Marjoram and I keep trying pronounce that one as something else...
Cooking is one of my favorite "creative incubators." I think of so much other stuff while cooking... "write" a lot of my best articles while cooking. Well... what I do is get lots of ideas that I write down and then turn into something later. "Divergent thinking," I believe they call it...
Writing and photography, but haven't had a lot of time lately. Perhaps 2018 will grant me some more time to do the things I enjoy.

Yeah, those are in my pipeline for 2018, as well. That and working more of artsy stuff... this year has been far too much about "struggling to earn a living."

My creativity is photography, the way I can manipulate lights, angles and create how I want something to be seen. I appreciate the talent of others in paintings...like your rocks, very beautiful. I wish I had the patience and the skill to do what you do. :)
Well, that's definitely an artform, in my opinion... it's one thing to just point and click, but a whole other thing to be able to get the camera to do something you visualize in your mind's eye.
My painted rocks are pretty much my meditation-- my relaxing happy place.
I taught myself how to applique quilt and I love it. That's a method where you cut out shapes and use special iron on paper to make designs on quilts. Its like making a painting but with fabric.

Quilts can be amazing works of art. My ex was a quilter, and I developed quite an interest in classic Amish style quilts when I was just out of college... even took a couple of classes. These days, I just admire the patience and handiwork of others.
Have you ever played monument valley?
This game has art everywhere. Good music, good design, good colors, and a touching story.
I believe videogames can be the ultimate form of art because they are a compilation and are able to include every other type of art.
I had to go look that up... it reminds me a bit of the "adventure/puzzle" games of the late 1990s... Myst, Riven, Obsidian, Rama and many others... now everything seems far more focused on "shot and kill" type games.
Music. It's weird to me how sound can translate into something so powerful to our brains, and it's a universal language.
Music is very powerful! I have often told people that "music is my mind-altering substance of choice." It's remarkably true, in so many ways....

My creativity is writing. I do draw and have made party hats too. I'm sure I'll go back to some form of the artistic part of being creative at some point!
But for now, writing is the winner!

Writing was my primary creative expression for many years... I basically believed I "sucked at art" because I was always miserable at drawing anything to make it look lifelike. But then I realizes that geometric patterns can be very artistic, as well... it has become my niche.
