Hace un par de días fui al vivero del Parque del Este, donde entregaba cartas con tía Mary, cuando la acompañaba a hacer su trabajo como agente de Ipostel, a comienzos de los '80s.
Para ese entonces, ella era una joven pelirroja, alta, de ojos verdes, muy atractiva.
Allí nos salieron unos perrotes, unos bichotes feroces, y ella mantuvo la calma y se ocupó de tranquilizarme. Yo tenía apenas 8 años de edad, y los canes eran gigantes, amenazadores.
Después de instantes que me parecieron siglos, el hijo del dueño, un muchacho muy guapo, alto, de ojos intensamente azules y cabellos rubios que contrastaban con su piel bronceada bajo el sol del trópico, salió y aplacó a sus fieras... y, "de ñapa", "le echó los perros" a Mary, quien le reclamó educadamente.
No volvimos a pisar ese sitio, que yo recuerde; una lección triple de ecuanimidad, compostura y dignidad, ¡como acostumbra tía Mary! Sello personal...
A couple of day ago I went to the Parque del Este's nursery garden, where I used to delivery mail with aunt Mary, when I was accompanying her to do her job as an Ipostel agent, at the beginning of the '80s.
By then, she was a young redhead, tall, with green eyes, very attractive.
There we got some dogs, ferocious and big, and she concealed her nervousness and calmed me down. I was barely 8 years old, and the dogs were giant, threatening.
After moments that seemed centuries to me, the son of the owner, a very handsome and tall boy with intensely blue eyes and blond hair that contrasted with his tanned skin under the tropical sun, came out and placated his beasts... and, "de ñapa" (besides that), "le echó los perros" ("he threw the dogs to her") to Mary, who claimed him, politely.
We didn't come back to that site again, as I remember; a triple lesson of equanimity, composure and dignity, as aunt Mary use to do! Personal stamp...
