Before Choosing Not To Prosecute: DA Accepts $10k Donation From Police Union

Last year, 16 year old pregnant and unarmed Elena Mondragon, was shot and killed by police after she left a swimming pool with her friends.

According to driver of the vehicle that Mondragon was in at the time, he has said that he initially thought that they were being robbed because they were approached by what turned out to be officers, who were dressed in plain clothing and armed with AR-15s.

To no surprise, the officers from the Fremont police department who arrived on the scene, allegedly hadn't activated their body cameras and so we don't have footage of the incident that took place.

The story was that they were after the driver, but the situation quickly escalated with the officers shooting at a moving vehicle which ended-up killing Mondragon. The police narrative prevailed; that the shooting was necessary, which is always the go-to narrative when there seems to be a shooting that takes place.

Ultimately, the officers were cleared of any wrongdoing.

According to one attorney who was involved in the case however, he says that there was a cover-up of botched police work.

And so it's interesting to find out now that the District Attorney for Alameda county, Nancy O'Malley, had previously accepted a $10k donation from the Fremont police union. The donation came only a few months before the office went ahead and cleared those officers from the Fremont police department of any wrongdoing.

They concluded just a few weeks ago that the officers hadn't seem to have done anything illegal. The donation of $10k, which is the largest to her campaign during that election cycle, was allegedly accepted while the investigation was still ongoing.

It also just so happens that one of the officers who was involved in the shooting of 16 year old pregnant and unarmed Elena Mondragon, is the president of the police union that gave the donation.

O'Malley has defended the move to accept the $10k and has obviously denied that this donation might fuel any particular bias in cases that involve law enforcement. Do you believe her?

The family of Mondragon has filed a lawsuit against the police department and they are arguing that the department failed to properly discipline the officers that were involved in the shooting incident.

These people are not even hiding. Unless they are punished for what they do, these things will continue to happen. Many people tend to blame the police, but in this story, you highlight how interwoven it all is.

I'm not really surprised by the police action of not turning on the camera they carry with them to document the action. This fact alone should have invalidated and questioned the police action, but as always, they cross all the evidence. A donation of that nature is unacceptable.
thank you very much dear friend @doitvoluntarily for sharing this information

Hello my dear friend @doitvoluntarily very interesting your publication and I am not really surprised by the police action, but as always they manipulate all action, have a happy night greetings

But of course theyre there to protect the people right? These people are nothing but psychopaths who were bullied at school. The only solution is that there has to be consequences from the public towards them. They need to be segregated from society and seen as the enemy they are, wives need to leave them, friends stop talking to them, because there sure as hell wont be any consequences for them from the maniacs that employ! They need to be viewed as the enemy from the ENTIRE public and made to feel alienated from the rest of us, maybe only then will they think about if its really worth it, however I wont hold my breath! Theyre addicted to control of others, realistically they need a bullet in the head.

corruption is a curse of a country. I hate corruption.

Such corruption that continues to take place is not surprising as long as all their pockets keep getting lined and nobody ever does anything about it ! great post @doitvoluntarily ! upped and resteemed !👍👍👍✌

Conventional wisdom:
1 Cops are racist, violent thugs.
2 Only cops should be able to have guns.
