Can I Get a Witness? New Contest Coming!

Greetings Steemit! We want to do a contest - or we are going to be doing one. Specifically, a karaoke contest. This is the combined brainstorming efforts of @enginewitty and @michaeldavid of #thealliance. Now I know, there is already a live one on Tuesdays on Discord, and that's great! However, not everyone can be there on Tuesday. So, we here at #thealliance have decided to put in our hat to organize one for people that would love to participate but have no way of ever making it to the Discord contest. In fact, people could even use their performance from Discord and enter it here! We have not chosen a specific starting date, but are pretty set on Mondays for being submission time, and Saturdays being the cutoff for entries. So, Monday at 12:00 a.m. through Friday at 11:59 p.m. CST would be optimal and we'll try to get it close as we can. Obviously, we don't expect this to be huge from the onset, so the prize pool will be dictated by any sponsorships and/or revenue from the initial submission thread and those thereafter until it is established.

Below, you will see a list of people/profiles that we feel would be well suited to the task of helping us in some way or another. With our project, at this point, we are willing to accept any help or ideas someone may have outside of what we have here. The list is purely based on familiarity to us personally across our Steemit swims and anyone not mentioned is more than welcome to lend a fin. Assistance could be anything from simple curation (which would be saying you endorse it) to perhaps a cross-promotion where we mention your contest and you mention ours. Optimally, I would like to have the winners of other contests, like for instance open-mic, be the judges for the following week's karaoke. This would give them more exposure in their musical exploits. We are open to suggestion as well. Just drop a comment down there :)

RULES

1. 1st tag for submission post must be karaokeallies.
2. Submission thread must be upvoted and curated.
3. Video of entrant singing must be in comments of submission thread (so you can get the popularity vote).
4. Must choose one of our selected songs to sing along to.
5. Must include "the alliance karaoke contest" spoken somewhere at the beginning of the video so we know it's you.

Judging Categories

1. Popular vote: This will carry 40% of the overall score. Whoever has the most upvotes (not reward amount for the post), will win the popular vote. You may only vote for yourself ONCE, purchased bot votes for yourself will not count.
2. Timing: 20% weight - how close you are to the timing of the original lyrics.
3. Pitch: 20% weight - how close you are to staying on key to the original lyrics.
4. Likeness: 20% weight - how much you actually sound like and embody the singer of the original lyrics.

PRIZES
We will award prizes for 1st, second and third places. Prize pools will be announced upon submission closure for the week, which still gives them all of Saturday to attain more popularity votes. I'm sure that in the beginning, prize pools will vary. Any sponsorship and/or SBD revenue will be the contributors to the contest purse. Steem Power generated will be used to maintain @killerwhale's voracious appetite. Winners will be announced Mondays, ideally with the posting of the new submission thread.
