Halloween Contest and DYI Costume Ideas for Poison Ivy

Hello Steemians, today I am sharing a different and fun type of post! Many of us celebrated Halloween this past weekend and even yesterday. Halloween is full of fun as well as scary events that many of us enjoy! From costume parties, to haunted houses and mazes, Halloween has something to offer for everyone. This past weekend I decided to dress up as Poison Ivy. One thing I do not like about costumes is how expensive they can be and that it is so hard to find what you need specially if you are looking for an outfit last minute. I had such a hard time finding all the accessories for my costume even after visiting so many stores, which led me to the idea of a DIY project. I decided to do all the accessories my self from the headpiece, to the leave choker, arm leave wraps and even the shoes. This helped allowed me to have exactly what I wanted and for less of what I was going to spend in the store. Below is the outcome:

DIY Time
Most of the things needed for DIY projects can be bought at dollar stores as well as craft stores such as Michael's. I purchased the glue gun, glue sticks, tape, wire and leaves at both Dollar Tree and Michael's and only spent about $15 dollars for everything I needed to accessorize my costume. I think you value the outfit a lot more when you pit work into it and create t yourself. The hardest thing I would say was to find green shoes. Since I had some gold ones I only used once I decided to turn these shoes into the "costume shoes" from now on. I added leaves all around and turned these gold shoes into the Poison Ivy shoes!

The Makeup
The makeup can be be very time consuming. I added some red lipstick and top it off with red glitter on the lips. for the eyes I decided to do a smokey green look with some green glitter for that extra pop of color and to go with the costume. This makes it stand out at night as well and ended loving the results! I changed the color of my brows to red as well so that it matched the hair and made it look more natural.

The Costume Party
At the end of the day all the time and effort pays off as you get to relax and enjoy the night! It is fun to have a night where you can dress up as anything you like. being able to see everybody dressed up and how creative people get dressing up is pretty fun! The best part was enjoying this day with my friends.
