[Crowdsourced Design Contest] 200 STEEM for Logo DesignsteemCreated with Sketch.

in #contest7 years ago (edited)

I need help designing a logo for my new brand/product.
150 STEEM will be the 1st prize for the logo that wins
30 STEEM to second place
20 STEEM to third place
Winner will be decided after this post has paid out.

The Label

Magnesium oil label unscented.png
This is the current design of the label but I am ready to go completely back to the drawing board to integrate the new logo

The company is currently being called Health Magnified. The first product will be topical magnesium oil. I have direct access to a supplier of magnesium chloride, which is what magnesium oil is made from. I have made a prototype product that my friends and family seem to enjoy and the current market for magnesium oil is growing quickly.

The Market

Right now the market is a fairly niche market that includes fitness and health motivated individuals. Many people are also finding out that they have a magnesium deficiency and that magnesium is more readily absorbed through the skin than consumed orally. It is estimated that 80% of Americans are deficient in magnesium so the potential market is fairly large.

The Product

My product will be unique in that it is not from the Zechstein seabed in the Nederlands. It actually comes from a from underneath the Ogalala aquifer in the southwest of the United States. I can therefore compete on price because it does not need to be shipped overseas, and I am sure that the quality is comparable. In blind comparisons of my prototype to the current competition my friends and family have overwhelmingly picked my product. It is slightly thicker and smoother than the closest related product currently available.

The Logo

I am looking for a logo that is creative enough that it could dominate the label. I am hoping it would be attractive as the prominent element of the label. The current label is just to give an idea of my aesthetic, but really I am ready to design a completely new one around a new logo, because I am not satisfied with what I have come up with. Design is not my strong point.

In fact at this point, everything is open for change including brand name and bottle color(blue, clear, etc)

I don't want to give too much direction because I think someone could come up with something in their mind just knowing what the product is. It could be just a text design with nice looking font or a logo graphic of some sort. I have worked on a few possible logos incorporating magnifying glasses and water drops and mandala like designs, but haven't come up with anything that I even want to post here as inspiration, because I want to leave it open to possible designs that I can't envision.

Here are my competitors

Life-Flo-Pure-Magnesium-Oil-645951405308.jpg

ancient mineral magnesium oil.jpg

As you can see the small purple life-flo logo and the simple text "Ancient Minerals" are the logos on those labels. I think mine and my competitors design are mediocre and if I can come up with a good design, I could dominate this niche. Keep in mind that the contest is for the logo, but I included pictures of the labels because I envision the logo as prominent component of the final label.

Feel free to ask any questions to get more direction. To enter the contest simply paste your design as a comment. I will use any entries as I see fit.

Please Resteem and notify your graphic design friends of the opportunity!

@oaldamster @elewarne do you have some time to help out here?

Richardcrill, @son-of-satire, would love this but he may be busy currently, i do hope he visits soon!

Thanks for the notify @steemgigs, I'll let my brain storm on it for a while.

You are welcome! i have you on the list for graphics, will be on the look out to mention you again, when required. You also join our discord server. It will be an honor and if you do #steemgig or #steemgigs it will even be more honor. Look at our posts as it explains the community-driven cause. We are now getting traction on posts under #steemgig or #steemgigs

Will have a look into Steemgigs and use the tag(s) when and where it fits.

Great! Will be a pleasure to propagate your #steemgig posts

Hello.
I present you our idea:

I think you had some spelling mistakes in the text, but I left it as it was.

Maybe I will post one more design later :)

Thanks.

I like the magnifying glass with the heart
It's a very clean label overall. Nicely done!

Label and logo, very nice! Thank you for the entry! Enter as many as you'd like!

Wow. This is nice. I love the color too! 👍

Hi)) My last minute entries. First thought when I have read your description was Mendeleev's table. I am not a designer at all. I just played a bit with colours and fonts. I plan to try green too.

I wish you the best of luck, unless I missed it, you may want to specify that entering the contest gives you full rights and ownership to reuse submissions as you see fit. Might avoid a lawsuit later.

thanks for the advice. I will add that to be safe.

:) No problem, I know that most of the logo contests or anythings I enter make it a point to mention that. I'm assuming some people are just kind of dicks or whatever.

@richardcrill - this is your baby and it's got room to grow as you add more product, right? So, without asking for creative direction, how about share something about you and what makes you passionate about this business? I personally love interacting with people to see where they're coming from to help generate ideas that they might like. So if you could throw out a few "power words" to describe your line that would be helpful.

For example, when we feast with our eyes, we want to create a trigger response. POWER looks far different from TRANQUIL. Thanks!

Great Idea @merej99! Thank you for that comment! I may need to make a new post to share why I'm passionate about this. I have been into natural/organic/health stuff for years. When I first learned of the transdermal absorption of magnesium while working for a company that sells magnesium chloride for ice melting, dust control, cattle feed, etc , I just dumped some magnesium chloride in my bathwater to see what it would do. After the bath, I had the best sleep I've had in a long time. I noticed a positive effect on my skin too, and I just felt amazing the next day. I had been experiencing a lot of low energy and lethargy, but after getting a big dose of magnesium topically, I felt better than I had in a long time. I was full of energy all of a sudden. I almost couldn't believe how big of a difference it made.

As I learned more about all the problems that can come from magnesium deficiency, I realized that was exactly what I had fixed in myself. The company does not sell magnesium oil, which is just magnesium chloride and water (technically its not really oil at all, but because of the properties of magnesium it has the feel of oil.) Anyway, I started to make magnesium oil for myself and got a lot of my friends and family to try it and everyone seemed to like it. The most common things I heard were the exact things I had experienced. Deep relaxation at first, followed by lots of energy. I found out that every cell in your body uses magnesium for energy production.

As I was pondering the problem of 80% of Americans being deficient in magnesium, I thought about what I always think about. How did we do it naturally in the past. I am definitely passionate about nature and health. And I follow the prescript from Hippocrates, "Let your food be your medicine and your medicine be your food". So, I had a very healthy diet that included foods with the highest amounts of magnesium including dark leafy greens, nuts, seeds, beans, avacados, whole grains, bananas, etc, yet I was still low on magnesium. I found out that when you consume it orally, your body cannot take in as much magnesium as you can through the skin. In fact, if you try, you will get diarrhea. Sorry if TMI. Long story short, transdermal magnesium is definitely the way to go. If your not walking barefooted on river beds rich in minerals and swimming in magnesium rich waters all the time, magnesium oil is the next best way to get a big dose of transdermal magnesium!

All that is to try to show how I am coming up with "power words"

It's funny that you used POWER and TRANQUIL, as both of those could work. The word that comes to my mind is NATURE.

Works like crazy, the magnesium. When you boil banana it release magnesium and when yo drink, the relaxation effect is felt instantly!

I did not know this! WOW!

And because of this response I totally see imagery in lush greens, leaves, a spring-fed brook, sunshine reflecting off a lake... That feels more right than your blue bottle.

It definitely does! That sounds beautiful to me!

I left the middle blank optionally in case you wanted to overlay your background design behind the glass. I thought the design I made in the middle looks like elemental gold possibly so it kind of works with the theme if you planned on making other oils. Good luck finding your logo!

Thank you for the entry! I really like the colors and the idea. i do plan to make more skin oils and lotions!

Awesome, I'm not generally the "graphics" person, but I come up with concepts pretty easily. Worst case scenario, if you don't get anything better maybe the "concept" is something to build on.

Hello, I worked up some ideas on the logo and the whole label using a scientific slant. The logo with the magnifying glass was an intriguing idea, so I started with that. The playing with the idea of the molecular composition of magnesium chloride the magnifying glass changed to a microscope. View the logo below:

image of logo

The light blue background of the whole label is tessellated magnesium chloride salts as seen under a microscope. The white labels themselves have a lacework that runs through the chemical composition of magnesium sulfate, the periodic table of magnesium, etc. It is very faint and used to add depth to the label. If you want cleaner lines though, the "lacework" can be removed to leave a clean white background behind the lettering.

I do like your current label, it is clean and promotes a health product well. If you are interested after the contest has closed, contact me and I can insert the microscope into the current label. Happy travels! -Jenn

Thank you for the entry! I love the scientific angle! Im going to have some hard decisions to make now!

Good! I'm glad we managed to get you some ideas to think about!

So I hope to submit something within a day or two. Resteemed.

Here you go!

Thank you for the entry! Playing off @erik's color scheme - I like it!

Yeah! I loved the color scheme as soon as i saw it and made it known lol! It was a fun process.

Glad to hear it!

Hopefully, @digicrypt will come this way. She was recommending by @majes

Hi richard, please bear with me for leaving the link to my recent post on your post here, i came here and say more people who can be interested in graphics. Now cos @steemgigs is still new, i am still bulding a list of steemians offering services in different categories. It will help growth and will be useful in the near future. I am grateful for all your support!
