You feel lacking until you read something like this. True that I have on many an occasion read bits and pieces of what's happening. But until it's broken down, you don't got the epitome of desperation. What could be so bad, you are willing to take the risk of death? How hungry can you be, to steal food right out of someone else's hand? Reading @hlezama's Desperate prompt, really brought it home.
