“What’s wrong with them…?” Machete asks pausing, but keen to leave the island, you and the Billy brothers keep walking.

As you get closer, you see it too, something about the crew doesn’t seem right. The crates, leaving great imprints in the sand, are clearly exceptionally heavy, yet the limber crew seems able to toss them from mate to mate.

Captain Murphy bobs over, a strange fluidity to her step.

A strange fluidity, you rapidly realise, that is down to the mass of tentacle tips swarming out of the holes in her boots!

“They’re fucking sea-monsters!” Machete calls after you.

“Creepy crawly squid men!”

You recoil in horror, but the long, suckered appendages of the Captain writhe out towards you, flopping over the sand as they grasp at your ankles.

Machete runs towards you, his handy knife drawn from his boot mid step, he leaps, stabbing one of the growingly numerous tentacles seizing Tio. The moment his blade cuts the leather flesh, a few tentacles release, yanking Machetes arm away and restraining him alongside you.

“What the hell happened to you?!!” you attempt to ask the Captain, sand choking out the words.

The disfigured faces of the Smackpunches transformed crew, pitted with barnacles and squirting with anemones, loom over you.

“Call that a hug fellas?”

Captain Murphy bellows. Her embrace tightens, snapping your ribs, puncturing your gasping lungs, as you choke in her deathly cuddle.
