Week 9: 7-Day Steemit Income Building Weekly Accountability (SIBWA) Challenge

in #community6 years ago (edited)

Hi there again, Steem Fam,

Happy Sunday to you!

It's another Sunday so you KNOW it's time for yet another fun Challenge to build the posting and commenting socialization habits that are the foundation for success here on Steemit.

Welcome to Week 9 of our 7-Day Steemit Income Building Weekly Accountability (SIBWA) Challenge.

Can you imagine that NINE weeks have passed already since we started this journey?

Wow!!! Can we say AMAZINGGGG??!!! ;)

Well take a breath so we can dive in...

A personal note and Thank You

I have already shared in a few of my posts that my first-week-on-Steemit 'far-off' mentor became my real mentor and outright supporter when he delegated 100 SP to me almost three weeks ago.

I was one of five young Steemians he chose to delegate 100 SP to. He's also mentoring us intermittently to help us get several levels up from where we were then.

Sir Max aka @SpiritualMax, was the very first Steemian 'stranger' to offer me warm encouragement in a specific way within my first few days of joining Steemit.

This helped me find my way early, especially in terms of understanding how important commenting rounds are to meet and greet and build an audience here on Steemit.

Since receiving this very kind delegation, I've gone through alternating states of surprise, gratitude, shock, gratitude, overwhelm, gratitude, anxiety, gratitude... you get the picture, right?

During this entire time, I've been mulling how I can honor this sacred trust to help more Steemians in additional ways to what I'd been doing before. I already had a habit to seek out and comment/upvote Steemit newbs who hadn't earned anything much, if anything at all, for their foundling posts.

Part of this was trying to figure a way to also include Challenge participants. I thought it would be a good idea to give you, the participant, a chance to spread the Blessings of Sir Max's delegation too.

Then this morning, I happened to visit a new-to-me Steemian after agreeing with a comment she made on a blog I regularly visit. In checking out her blog, I happened upon a Daily Spotlight post thinking it was hers. But it turned out to be a resteemed post published by @Daveks.

@Daveks had chosen @joalvarez's blog as the Winning blog in that Daily Spotlight post. So that got me thinking again of letting the Challenge be a place where participants could highlight Steemians that they like.

Before we explore the idea and how to play with it in this Challenge, I'd also like to Thank @zuckerzombie for keeping me company last week. I'd also like to wish @powerfulwonders lots of energy as he helps his approximately 50 students finish their pre-exam preparation as the school year skids rapidly to a close.

So this week, I'd like to start a series of new things we can experiment with until we find a great combination of using Sir Max's delegation to help and assist more Steemians.

Yesterday, the final day of last week's Challenge, I went through one last time to make sure I'd upvoted all participant posts listed on that Challenge post. So all participants have already been benefiting from my increased voting power. So let's expand it out more now.

For this week, IF you choose to participate in this new endeavor, in addition to sharing your own daily post/s, add another sub-reply under the headings for Days 1-5. Then on those days, insert the link for a Steemian newbie whose blog you have checked out and like.

IMPORTANT:
You get to choose how many newbie Steemians you nominate each week. It can be one or two this week, five next week. Let's flow with this and see how it goes.

For the purposes of this Challenge, let's define a Steemian newbie as:

  • born not more than 4 months ago on Steemit
  • reputation less than 50
  • personal steem power less than 100

This newb should be a Steemian who you did not know before this weekend.

I will go visit your nominee's blog and if I agree with you that s/he is trying to get in to a good rhythm of consistent daily publishing of quality, interesting and informative posts, I will:

  • give her/his post a full 100% upvote
  • give YOUR quality comment on herhis post a full 100% upvote

You can find one newb you want to highlight once a day, for the first five days of the Challenge. That means that by the end of each Challenge if you participate each of the seven days, you will have:

  • gotten Challenge comment/upvote support for seven of your own posts
  • gotten Challenge encouraging comment/upvote support for your own seven daily post listings on this Challenge post
  • nominated five total, one post for five different newbie Steemians, to receive Challenge highlight and support
  • if agreed upon, caused five total, one post for five different newbie Steemians, to be highlighted and supported and 100% upvoted
  • received extra 100% upvote support on five total, one quality comment that you leave on each of your five nominee posts
  • received Challenge upvote support for between one to five total nominee post listings on this Challenge thread that was agreed upon

Try to choose peeps who post on subjects that you like, because I would personally love if you can develop longer term relationships with these Steemians so they become part of your growing Steemian network.

Your nominee for each of the five days must be submitted on each specific Challenge date. Yesterday's nominee can't be posted as today's nominee.

Also try to choose posts by your nominee that will not reach their payout within three days of the day you nominate them. This will give me and other Challenge participants who want to, time to check out and support them all in time for them to receive our upvote value as part of their payout.

Let me know if you like this idea. And please also share any other ideas you have for ways we can use this Challenge to impact and assist others in the wider newbie Steemian community.

Quick Reminder to give comment priority to Challenge participant posts

Let's continue to improve on tallying our daily comments by the end of the Challenge week. This gives us a good idea of our commenting consistency over the week and from week to week.

Commenting is such a fun way to meet and greet other Steemians and to build our Steemian audience and closer inner circle Steemian family.

Special note for new Challenge visitors thinking of participating

We'd love to have you come join us!

If you are already publishing one post and fifteen comments consistently and would like to increase to two posts and 30 comments daily, we would love to support and cheer you on here in our weekly Challenge as you do that.

Use the Challenge as your safe, friendly accountability space as you practice doing that each week.

If you are not yet consistently publishing one post and fifteen comments daily, we would also like to support and cheer you on as you develop that habit.

Again, think of this weekly Challenge as your own safe accountability space to play with other participants while you practice publishing more regularly.

IF you are visiting this Challenge for the first time, Thank You for stopping by. Would you like to have some company as you post away here on Steemit?

The water is warm. Jump right on in...

So don't worry if when you're reading this you've missed a few days. Just jump in and start adding your post and comment links. Then come back next Sunday to start from scratch when next week's Challenge kicks off.

If you are an old hat from previous weeks, Thank you for participating and Welcome again.

We'll keep learning as we're doing and will fine-tune the Challenge as we go.

°º¤øº°°°º¤øº¤øº°°°º¤øº°

For now, here's what we've got:

The Challenge is run on the honor system.

You post one of your daily links in exchange for making two comments on posts submitted by other participants. So two relevant, quality comments per post that you submit.

IF there are NOT enough participants for you to get your two comments for each of your daily posts done within the Challenge:

  • comment on participant posts first
  • comment on posts outside of the Challenge after
  • post links for your two inside comments under the relevant daily post
  • post links for the balance of your 10-15 daily 'outside' comments under the relevant daily post OR just tally them up and put the total

Also, very importantly, please:

  • USE 'accountability' as one of your tags for the posts you're going to submit for the Challenge.

Besides it making your post easier for Challenge supporters to find, it will make your posts more visible as it's a tag that's not filled with millions of other posts.

It is also a term that's highly regarded in many niches and areas of interest and often searched for as 'accountability' has now officially become a thing. Searches for it will only increase over time both off and within Steemit itself

  • ADD 'SIBWA Challenge' somewhere in the TITLE of the daily post you're submitting to this week's Challenge. More peeps going down their timeline will open it out of curiosity because they won't know what the heaven it is

Ok, let's dive down now into the Challenge Prep Steps and the Challenge Daily Action Steps so we can get off of this page and get going with today's Challenge tasks. ;)

°º¤øº°°°º¤øº¤øº°°°º¤øº°

CHALLENGE PREP ACTION STEPS
(for INITIAL BETA MODE)

These are the immediate steps to take now to participate in this week's Challenge:

A. These three basic steps all help increase visibility for this post and the posts you publish and link to here each day during the week:

  1. UPVOTE this post (not mandatory but appreciated, helps attract more Challenge Family members)
  2. COMMENT to hold your space by saying "I'm IN".
  3. RESTEEM this post if you can (not mandatory but also appreciated)

B. HOW to help keep this Challenge post tidy

  1. 'Reply' to your own "I'm IN" comment:
  2. TYPE in 'Day 1 Posts':
  3. HIT 'Enter' so it becomes a sub-comment to your original "I'm In" comment.
  4. HIT 'Reply' under your 'Day #' comment and type in 'Two comments to earn this Day # post' then click 'Submit'.
  5. HIT 'Reply' under your 'Day #' comment again and type in 'Day # Comments Total = ' then click 'Submit'.
  6. Do the EXACT SAME THING for EACH of the next few days, all the way up to Day 7, so that EACH Day # has its OWN 'Reply' that falls directly under your FIRST ORIGINAL "I'm IN" comment

Don't worry, it may sound harder than it is when you start doing it. Once I've published this post, I will do mine at the top and show you so you can see it. ;)

Ok, that's the set-up for each of your seven days of link and comment posting for this week's 7-Day Challenge.

This will help you post your links and comments quickly during the week when you may be in a rush.

Now let's get in to the daily action steps...

°º¤øº°°°º¤øº¤øº°°°º¤øº°

DAILY CHALLENGE ACTION STEPS
(for INITIAL BETA MODE)

AFTER you have completed the Challenge PREP Steps above, move on to:

A. SUBMIT YOUR FIRST CHALLENGE POST LINK
UNDER
your Day 1 sub-comment:

  1. Click 'REPLY'
  2. INSERT your FIRST Challenge post link and click 'SUBMIT'

B. UPVOTE/QUALITY COMMENT 2 POSTS BY FELLOW CHALLENGE PARTICIPANTS

  1. Go ahead and upvote/quality comment TWO posts by different participants to cover the FIRST Challenge post you entered
  2. For EACH set of upvote/quality comment you do, RETURN to your FIRST post link in this Challenge thread and let the author know that you upvoted and quality commented
  3. AFTER finishing your FIRST ROUND of TWO upvotes/quality comments to cover your FIRST Challenge post link submitted for the day:
  • RETURN to your FIRST post link submission comment for that day
  • CLICK Reply under it
  • INSERT the links for EACH of the TWO comments you made in exchange for posting your first Challenge post link
(Just right-click on the time thingy of your first comment you made on another participant's post, choose 'Copy' and insert that comment link back on this post as a reply to where you entered YOUR own post link)

This will MAKE IT CLEAR to all other participants which two comments you made in exchange for your FIRST post link

SEE my Day 1 example if the above is not clear.

C. UPVOTE/QUALITY COMMENT 11 OTHER POSTS

  1. Go ahead and continue with ONE set of upvote/quality comment to meet your 10-15 daily comment total within the Challenge if there are enough participants, or outside of the Challenge when you've commented on all participant posts available for that week
  2. RETURN to the post link in this Challenge thread and let the author know that you upvoted and quality commented as part of your extra comment round
  3. RETURN to your relevant Day sub-comment at end of your day, hit 'Reply' and insert the number of comments you did for the day

°º¤øº°°°º¤øº¤øº°°°º¤øº°

That's IT!

Have FUN this week making friends and leaving love on each post you visit.

Even if your steem power is low so your upvote doesn't have a lot of $$ value, the 'heart value' of your upvotes and quality comments is priceless!

Angela

PS I'll set up my "Day #" and other comments to help you set up yours in case any of what was posted above was not clear.

I love it that somehow I became a Sir :D

Always laugh reading it. Thanks Angie!

GOOD!!! So happy you like AND get a laugh from it. And you're Welcome!

It's my way of 'seeing'/speaking to you as the Witness or Whale that you are to me in my heart and mind. You'd be great in whichever of those you choose... if you have to choose. There must be some who are both, right?

Plus the sound of it just plain fits! ;)

I agree, it sounds nice.

I'm neither a witness nor a whale. A whale has to have oceans of SP, and a witness has to be tech savvy... I am not any of that yet :P

Cheers

I am not any of that yet :P

Sorry I wasn't clear. I know you're neither a whale nor a witness yet. But I see that you can become one based on how you've been contributing to the platform thus far.

Just using the power of thought and 'speaking' the possibilities to seed them manifesting in the future. Always wishing you well.

I'm INNNN!!!!

What a wonderful and educational post, @zuckerzombie. Thank you for teaching me something new. I'd never heard of an animal escort service but it makes so much sense.

Thanks for escorting Maise to her new home too, @zuckerzombie! Will be FB/tweeting this for my animal companion/soul mate audience.

btw, forgot to FB/tweet yesterday as I said I'd do on my comment on your post, @zuckerzombie, but just did. This is probably a better time for my Twitter audience anyway. ;)

Yayyyyy!!!! Wonderful to see you, @zuckerzombie!!!! ;)

Day 4, Wednesday, May 2, 2018:

Day 4 Challenge Highlight Plankton Nominee post:

Today I choose to nominate a newbie Steemian I first met a couple days ago. He is 23 and lives in Australia. I like how he juxtaposes his post topics and how he is actively exploring the meaning of his life and Life in general.

Username: @carpet.duck
Rank: 46
Steemit birth: April 2018

The post I found and commented on is below, but he published a breakout post on education right after then a more personal one on being sick with a touch of tonsillitis.

Depending on when you see this and click over, if the post is past its payout period, just share some of your comment and upvote love with one of his newer ones. ;)
