Chinese New Year Lion Dance bring Good Luck. He came in to the temple at night. The crowd gave him the floor as offerings sprang from his mouth. They danced down the middle of the street, in the middle of the parade. And after the motorcycle cops had flown like jets in formation from the sky, after the crowds mingled over mooncakes and tea, the Lions continued their dance. The drums followed them to the local stores, into restaurants. All of Chinatown was circled with the red and yellow lions and the dancing of the drums. Lucky are those graced by the Dragon. No pariah needed. No border exists in the eyes of the gods. Only those with nothing to say talk all the time. But the lions, silent, dance, smile, and are blessed with luck, for their blessings last all year long.

The Year of the Dog starts February 16.
