PURPLE Poison!!! ColorChallenge!

in #colorchallenge6 years ago

I"m thinking that Sunday is purple....So I go out to the garden, but really, who is paying any attention to the fall garden when it's only 45 degrees out and cloudy to boot?

Regardless, I wander outside, and there, as always in late October, is the trusty Monkshood (latin: aconitum and aka wolf's bane, devil's helmet and queen of poisons!)

This is indeed a poisonous plant, but I don't fear for random animals that may come by and take a sniff...it seems to be baked in their DNA to stay away from the stuff. Lore is that back when enemies at war shot each other with arrows whose tips had been soaked in the juices of aconitum, this would surely poison the bad fellow even if the arrow missed it's mark.

I've also read where it has healing powers for the likes of PTSD. But I'm feeling a tad hung over and not willing to put the proper research into it. Y'all are on your own with that one!

But I digress...Below is how the monkshood is currently behaving in my garden...always a mess this time of year, the garden that is, but that purple just POPS! And it looks rather cool with the aging sedum which is practically completely brown. Brown and Purple...that's what is going on in the garden today.

What a pop of color! It looks really nice with the sedum flowers. I've never grown this plant, but do know of it.

It is still adding some colours to your garden :) , Mine died a painful death :(

Actually the sedum look to be a nice color in the photo!! Such is Fall...

I know! It looked rather brown when i took the photo, and I noticed how it was still pinkish reddy brown once I posted it...either way, nice combo ;0)
