The most common Sanskrit name for the throat chakra is Vishuddha, which means pure or purification. This chakra is related to the sense of sound. Through the throat, sound is transmitted into the air and its vibration can be felt in the ears, and throughout the entire whole body.

The throat chakra has a natural connection with the second and sacral chakra, which is the center of emotion and creativity. The throat chakra’s main focus is to express and project creativity into the world, Another function of the throat chakra is to connect you to Spirit an is often seen as the movement of energy into the body. Opening the throat chakra can help align vision with reality and release pressure to the heart chakra.
Clearing and Activating the Throat Chakra
The throat chakra is associated with the etheric body,and holds the blueprint for the perfect template of dimensions of the body. As any other chakra in the body it is important to align the energy through the whole chakra system.
A blocked throat chakra can contribute to feelings of insecurity, timidity, and introversion. On the other end of the spectrum, an overactive throat chakra may also lead to gossiping, nonstop talking, and being verbally aggressive or mean. It can seem as though the filter between the discourse you have in your mind and what comes out of your mouth is not working, or missing entirely.
When the throat chakra has an imbalance, it can manifest as:
- Lack of control over one’s speech by speaking too much or inappropriately.
- Not listening to others.
- Excessive fear of speaking.
- Small voice.
- Not being able to keep secrets or keep information to yourself.
- Lack of purpose in life.
Clearing the Throat Chakra
