Great Spangled Fritillary butterfly on an Asclepias Incarnita, aka swamp milkweed or red milkweed, a regional native ascplepias. (Note of import: Asclepias is the kind of milkweed that Monarch butterflies require to lay eggs and for caterpillar feeding.)
I had dig a bit to verify that swamp ascplepias milkweed is the incarnita kind (variety?). The reason I was confused is because I have an incarnita in my garden, I thought. It doesn't look like swamp milkweed. Huh, maybe I've been calling mine the wrong name. haha. Mine looks like this:
The leaves might be similar, but the flower is not. Now I have to solve this mystery, but there is little over an hour left in Orange Tuesday, so I'll have to do that later. :)
