CoinGecko Fortnightly Digest (24 Nov - 7 Dec 2018)
Steem Exclusive Digest (24 Nov - 7 Dec2018)
Welcome to CoinGecko’s second fortnightly digest! We will recap what has happened over the past 2 weeks.
We at CoinGecko are always hard at work to make your experience on CoinGecko better. Being one of the leading cryptocurrency data aggregators, we uphold transparency strongly and that includes updating the community on what we have been doing behind the scenes. It is with the hope that this fortnightly digest can keep all of you updated on our journey.

First, a word from CoinGecko
These past 2 weeks have been rough on the market, truth be told. Bitcoin lost a whole grand, $30 Billion Dollars wiped out since the last Digest, even Steem itself fell under $0.30 level. We were quite shocked when we heard about Steemit Inc’s decision to lay off the bulk of their staff and restructure their whole company objective. If you haven't done so, do take the time to read our thoughts on the whole issue.
Despite that, if you look past all the negative hype, there are many silver linings within the crypto-clouds. For one, we’ve been seeing projects continue to flash out updates and new features. It is these kinds of developments that truly matter in the end as projects take solid steps closer to the mission they originally set out to fulfil.
On a side note, did you know that over the past 2 weeks, the elusive creator of Bitcoin made quite a stir when he did 2 things with his original P2P Foundation account; 1) posted a single word “nour”, which many believe to be the Arabic word for “light” and… (Perhaps this is of greater significance) 2) befriended a fellow Steemian @wagnertamanaha! That’s right! Go take a look at the things he’s been doing to spread crypto-awareness in Brazil. Not to mention the work he is doing for @steemcenterwiki.
By the way, check out NakamotoJedi’s new video featuring CoinGecko!
We’ve been quite busy over the past 2 weeks to actually notice the bear market😅. Here are all the things we’ve done, expect more good stuff from us! We’re nowhere near done with work😏.
1. Candle Chart
You can now see most actively traded pair across exchanges with our new feature.
You can now use Candle charts on CoinGecko!
We’ve recently deployed this brand new feature fresh out of the oven. As we’re still rolling this feature out in phases, you can currently find this chart in selected coins. Eventually, all the major coins will have the candle chart available to suit your preference.
In case you asked, yes, we’ve put Steem in the priority list.
2. Chrome extension
Psst.. You guys here on Steem are the first to know this. We’ve secretly released a beta version Crypto-market Chrome extension. As of now, it shows only a list of Top 50 coins by Market Cap. We’ve got big plans for it though. Stay tuned and be the first to try it out, let us know what you think of it!
3. Steemit footer
Thanks to @itstime for his wonderful suggestion! We’ve now added a Steemit link to our Steem profile under every CoinGecko.com page footer. Let’s get some of CoinGecko’s fan from outside of Steem to know about Steem!
4. 0x instant
We’ve integrated 0x Instant for selected coins to allow instant token swaps through the 0x protocol. In case you haven’t heard, 0x protocol recently just launched a new feature where businesses can seamlessly integrate an 0x-powered token marketplace to allow instant swap.
Coins
Over the past 14 days, we’ve added a total 131 coins. With that, our total coin counts tally to a whopping 3571 coins!
Exchanges
3 new exchanges were added over the past fortnight.
There are always contests and giveaways happening on CoinGecko!

That’s all the update that we have for today. Do share your thoughts with us here and let us know what you would like to see on CoinGecko and how we can better improve. Thank you!
Busy two weeks team!
I love love love your Chrome extension! I'm using Presearch.org as my search tool, and they have a link directly to CMC... but I still have to open a new session and click on the link (first world problems I know) but with your extension, I have click one button, see all the red overlaid on my current screen and close it immediately, so good!
I'm very much in the boat of seeing the bear market as a huge opportunity, both in Steem and the greater crypto market overall. I've been cost-averaging into crypto for months, just a little bit at a time, and with Steem, the selloff of Steem to pay the Steemit bills just helps decentralise the token further.
Thanks for hanging with us! So super glad to not only have you here but that you're so active in this bear market - also thanks for the detailed reply you gave me the other day. I appreciate the thought that went into it and I'm excited to see what happens in the future.
if you have any suggestions about what to add to the extension, feel free to chime out!
You guys are amazing.
Honestly though... I would love to see the Total Market Cap at the top if that was possible. I really do feel like that's the single biggest indicator of how the market is going.
I do love how quick it is... and the little green up and red down arrows.
I'd also love it if I could customize which coins I see... but that feels like too big an ask.
Great progress and encouraging things coming to the community! It would be great to see more external sites integrate into Steem and I think that is where we are headed in the long term as many centralized platforms have their challenges. I love the 0x protocol and look forward to giving it a try! Thanks!

I am a big fan of coingecko and I am very happy to see a steemit link on the bottom of the website! Even happier to see how much steem power you have. Keep on steeming
The candle stick chart you recently added to your site is a very needed addition. The market is easier to analyze with a candle chart than a line chart. You people @coingecko are doing an awesome job. This a wonderful update. congrats your wonderful achievements in the past 2 weeks
