看完 @oflyhigh 上星期有关柳笛的帖子 (https://steemit.com/cn/@oflyhigh/eocxy) 后，我也一时兴起，把小时候的竹笛子也拿出来玩。顺道也为Steemit上的中外各位人仕介绍一下这一种很有魅力的传统中国乐器！

After reading @oflyhigh's post which about playing willow flute (https://steemit.com/cn/@oflyhigh/eocxy) on last week, I took out and played my Dizi which I learned when I was a secondary school student. I am going to introduce this cool instrument to everyone of you here!

和西方笛子的分别 / The difference between Dizi and western flute

和西乐的笛子不同，中国笛子声音会给人一种清脆大自然，较为明亮、透明的感觉。主要原因在竹笛有有一笛膜。籍由笛膜的震动，笛子能发出比起西方笛子和牧童笛不同的特别声音。初学者有时会用胶纸代替笛膜，但这时竹笛子的声音会变成和西方笛子及牧童笛类近。

The main difference between Dizi and western flute is Dizi had a special membrane called dimo which make its sound very special unlike other woodwind instruments. If you use tape to replace dimo, Dizi's sound will become like western flute.

顺带一提，世界上也有没有笛膜的竹笛，不过比较少。

Yet, there are Dizi that do not have dimo, but it is hard to found them nowadays.

和箫的主要分别 / The difference between Dizi and Xiao

很多人经当把箫和笛子分不清，甚至有武侠片把两者混淆了。其实箫是没有笛膜，还有是直吹的。而笛子则是横吹的。《射雕英雄传》中的黄药师就是使用玉箫作武器了。

People in China usually confused with Dizi and Xiao in Chinese swordsmen film. Xiao do not have dimo and it is vertical end-blown flute. But Dizi is horizontal end-blown flute. In "The Legend of The Condor Heroes", Huang Yaoshi is using Jade Xiao as sword.

而笛子是这样的。 / It is Dizi :

这是我的笛子收藏，由于很久没有拿出来玩，所以笛膜都破了，要玩的话要买新的笛膜再贴。

These are my Dizi, all are old therefore some of the dimo is broken. If I want to play it, I should buy new dimo.

左边3支是曲笛，右边3支是梆笛，最右那支历史最久了。
曲笛比较长，用气为主，音调浑厚圆润，柔美流畅。
梆笛比较短，用舌头的技巧为主，节奏活泼跳动。音调高亢明亮

The 3 Dizi in the left hand-side is called bāngdi and right hand-side is called qǔdi. The rightest one is my first Dizi.
Qǔdi is long and has a more mellow, lyrical tone. Bāngdi is short, higher in pitch with brighter and more shrill sound quality.
