第一次，科學研究的第一次/ “谷哥点名”活动 The First time: The Tirst Time for Scientific Research

這是參加 @jubi 谷哥点名活动 的帖, 第一次參加~

人生必定充滿著很多不同的第一次,第一次上學, 第一次談戀愛, 第一次生離死別, 第一次……而第一次之所以是這麼特別就是因為沒有經驗可以比較。

當經第一次的歷變得恒常化後,感覺就淡下來, 就好像第一次騎單車那種興奮, 不過興奮過後, 由初嘗到平常, 每天以單車代步就會有不一樣的領悟….

不過我還是想不到什麼題材未被其他人寫過，所以還是來點有關科學的吧~

還記得第一次走進大學級的實驗室, 真正初嘗研究的感覺，如初戀一般的純真, 那種自覺能改變世界,令大眾能享受實驗成果的想法 (回想起也覺得好笑)。

入實驗室第一件事情一定是上安全簡介, 新手上路必定二百分留神,但之後又有多少人會緊記那麼麻煩的規定? 一開始大家一起小心翼翼, 但過不久就會隨隨便便 (如果有喪屍病毒流出,一定是有實驗室人員粗心大意XD)

不過不一定所有初嘗到平常感覺也是負面的, 還記得第一次打開培養皿, 那大腸桿菌
發出的味道並不好受, 不過對多了又覺得沒怎麼, 反而現在別人一做大腸桿菌相關實驗, 我不用看到也知道誰在弄細菌 XD

而做研究必定會遇上的就是失敗, 實驗結果陰性, 假設錯誤, 這些都是必然有碰上的。而第一次滿懷希望的結果出付意外地 失敗了,那感覺絶不好受。久而久之習慣了就沒事了,學懂了平常心。畢竟研究的英文是research, 分開了不就是RE (重新) Search (搜尋), 重新搜尋實驗方法, 重新搜尋新的假設….

科學第一次的重要性只在於文章發表的時間.....平常心才是細心研究之道~

Life is full of different first times, from the first time to school, to the first time to fell in love, to the first time of life and dead, and to the first time of.....The first time is always so specials its simply because there isn't any history records to be compared to.

When the first time becomes usual, that special feelings would fade. Just like the first time you managed to ride a bike, that excitement, that thrill. But after that surge of adrenaline, from first time to ordinary times, when you need to bike everyday to work, that special feelings changes....

As I couldn't think of any topics that weren't written by anyone yet, lets keep on with science~

I could still recall the first time I enter a university level laboratory, first time feeling the field of research, that naive mind of thinking the research that I do could make a huge impact on the world. That everyone could benefit from my work....that naive feeling was as pure as first love.

Entering a laboratory, the first thing is always the safety introduction, all newbies will pay full attention to it for the first time. But after the first time, how many would still recall those tedious safety rules? Everyone will be careful on the first time, but afterward, people tends to relax (if there were a zombie virus leak, it must be careless researchers XD)

Not all first time to ordinary times are negative, just like the first time I open a petri dish of E. coli, that pungent smell is not pleasant at all. But gradually after time, I didn't felt that bad anymore. In fact, now when someone is working with E. coli, I could immediately tell by just by the smell XD

In research the one thing that we surely will encounter are failure, the experiments results come back negative , our hypothesis was wrong, all those we are bounded to come across. That depression from the first failure of experiment is always hard to handle, but gradually you will get use to it and will be fine, learning how to keep calm and move on is probably the key for research. After all the word "Research", when separated will be "Re" "Search" time to search again. "Re" "Search" a better protocol, "Re" "Search" a new hypothesis, "Re" "Search" a new meaning in the topic.

The only important "First time" in science is publications....but having a calm, unbiased mind is the truth for good research~
