I visited Showa-village, Fukushima pref. again last week to record some traditional farm work and to help it. This is a small village surrounded mountains so people who live here help each other, share each other as could as possible. There is still a "Yui=結" mind in this area, it means help each other and share there work to live together.

先週、福島県の昭和村で伝統的な畑仕事の記録と、その手伝いのために出掛けてきました。この村は山間の小さな村なので、ここに住む人たちはお互い助け合い、できるだけ仕事を共有して生活をしています。この地域には今も「結（結い）の精神」が残っていて、普段の生活からお互いに目を配り支え合っています。

Young people bring out the necessary tools from the warehouse of the elders' house. Checking tools and preparing them is a veteran/elders work. Late May, every year people in the village take a break from their work and participate in this share work for three days. I visited there to take the pictures and videos of this farm work. On this day they carried fertilizer, struts, windbreak net and so on.

この日も年長者の家の倉庫から若者が必要な道具を運び出します。道具類を確認して準備するのはベテランの年長者の仕事です。今回撮影させてもらったのは、毎年5月後半に行われる畑作業で、村の人たちは3日間、自分の仕事を休んでこの作業に加わります。この日は肥料や支柱、防風ネットなどを運び作業しました。

On the day we worked at three fields in turn. They did work burnning the farm with fire, so we can say the more people, the more relieved. The pumps and hoses for pumping up water are all prepared by a man who work very hard for everyone in this area, the elders give directions and the villagers follow it.

当日は3箇所の畑を順番に回って作業しました。火を使って畑を燃やす作業をするので、人数が多ければ多いほど安心です。水を汲み上げるためのポンプやホースは地域で慕われている男性が全て用意して、年長者が指示を出し、村人がそれに従います。

In addition to farm work, they also live while sharing various things in everyday life. Now is the time of the harvest of the wild vegetables, but those who harvested "Warabi/bracken" and "Udo/Aralia cordata" will visit the elders' houses and leave them. Sometimes they will get money from elders.

また畑作業に限らず、日常生活でも様々なものを共有しながら生活しています。今は山菜の収穫の時期ですが、ワラビやウドを収穫した人は、年長者の家を訪ねてこれらを置いて行きます。時には買い取って貰うこともあります。

And these vegetables are cooked by elders, processed into Tempura and Tsukudani(kind of pickles), and returned as dishes for dinner to those harvested. "People do and share whatever they can do" seems it's a kind of rule to live with happiness in this village. Even if a people is not good at anything special, helping childcare would help others, sewing torn clothes would help others too. Instead treated home-cooking dinner from elders, young people can do for elders to get some interesting stuff to deliver from Amazon on the smartphone. Small help will also be great joy and ties and each other will live comfortably. I feel like a little similarity with steemit community. haha.

そしてこれらは年長者によって料理され天ぷらや佃煮に加工され、料理された状態で収穫した人に夕食のおかずとして戻されます。できる人ができることをする、それがこの村で楽しく生活するための「ルール」のようなものです。得意なことがなくても、子どもの相手をすることもまた人助け、破れた服を繕うのも人助け。スマートフォンで通販をポチッとするのも若者が年長者のためにできる1つの人助け。小さな手助けも大きな喜びや繋がりになってお互いが気持ちよく生活をすることになります。なんとなく、steemitのコミュニティと通じるようなところがありますね。ははは。

This is an announcement paper from police and it says "身の用心/Beware of yourself" in stead famous announcement about fire "火の用心/Beware of fire”. A local police station in this area distributes it to protect elderly people from phone fraud etc. and enlightens it. This is a small village so everyone observe each other's behavior very well. Sometimes it makes people feel cramped. But if elders' home is still lightened in the midnight, Some people visit or call to the person who live the house to make sure the elder is alright even it is midnight. Some people say "It might be a little too much sometimes but involved is better than not doing anything".

こちらは「火の用心」ならぬ「身の用心」。地元の警察署がオレオレ詐欺などから高齢者を守るために配布したり、ノボリを立てたりして啓蒙しています。小さな村だけあって、皆さんがお互いの行動はとてもよく観察しています。時にそれが窮屈に感じることもあるでしょう。年長者の家の電気が遅くまで付いていると、倒れていないか心配して夜でも様子を見に訪問したり電話するなどして確認することもあるようです。「少しくらいお節介のほうが、なにもしないよりいい」という人もいます。

Until now we have been able to visit only during the summer harvest time but as we were involved in preparing the field, helped mowing, I feel a little bit like we could become a member of the village. It was a good opportunity to experience the difficulty of maintaining and managing the fields and the fact that they can not live without spirit of mutual support, sharing and coexistence.

今までは夏の収穫の時期にしか訪問できていませんでしたが、今回のように畑の準備から関わって、草刈りを手伝い、また少しだけですが村の一員として近づけたように感じて帰ってきました。畑を維持管理する大変さと、助け合い・共有・共存の精神無しには生活できないという事実を体感することができるいい機会となりました。
