Unlocking the Power of Chrome: Issue 44
Welcome back to a Memorial Day edition of Unlocking the Power of Chrome.
Actually Memorial weekend I should say. Memorial Day is a couple of days off, but I will probably be too busy to post on that day.
Thanks for stopping for another issue of my series. My goal is to bring you an extension or two every week that you can use to power up your Chrome browser.
Extensions are easy to install and uninstall so if the one I suggest doesn't work out for you, just remove it. No worries!
Speedtest
In the past couple of years I have found it necessary to test the speed of my Internet connection whether at work or at home.
My standby for doing this test has always been the Speedtest site by Ookala.
Well now they have an extension that you can install right in Chrome, so you don't have to always go to the site when you want to do a speedtest.
You can add it to your browser by visiting the Chrome Webstore here.
Once you have the extension installed, you can test your speed with a simple click. The extension will also check to see how fast the pages you are visiting are loading.
Additional metrics include ping, download, and upload speeds.
If you have ever wanted to know a little more about the quality of your Internet connection, this might be an extension you want to check out.

I think I say this with almost every one of these posts, but this is an extension I'm definitely going to install. I do a speedtest multiple times a wekk, just because I'm on 4g internet. Definitely a very useful app!

I use speedtest.net as well. It is always nice to know if your internet is slow or if you have just grown a bit too impatient. I will be sure to check out the chrome browser.
Awesome. Yeah it has been a solid tool for me for years.
I usually ping it, but if an extension can provide on-browser experience, then why not, it is a useful tool.
