Balloons, Pop-ups & Holiday Shenanigans

in #christmas5 years ago (edited)

It’s been another weekend of holiday shenanigans around here.

Where to begin? 🤔

Friday!

Have you ever noticed the weekend seems longer when you do something substantial on Friday? After a long, draining work week, Friday nights often end up being a crash nights. This is especially true if you are over say 35. But if you can manage to rally for Friday night fun, the weekend almost seems unending.

This Friday we rallied by hosting a party.

Well.... maybe it was more of a gathering...

The table, a cake and some Santa “hats”.

Adult guests brought flowers. Kid guests brought pizza gummies!

Snacking

Kiddos entertained themselves and us with a little dancing.

The little ones also decorated a small tree to compliment the big one.

Saturday

Saturday felt like the ultimate day of slothiness. PJ’s til 2, crapping around on the Internet... it was glorious and relaxing. However, the night had more in store!
At 4pm we headed out to The Green Lake Pathway of Lights. In one of the city’s long standing holiday events, the Seattle Park’s Department places thousands of paper lanterns around the 2.8 miles perimeter of the lake. Families walk around the lake wearing lights themselves to enjoy the show.

Luminaries

Gazing out over the lake.

At several locations around the lake there were carolers and free holiday beverages. In addition to the luminaries, the city had another treat in store. This year, for the second time in the event’s history, there were HOT AIR BALLOONS! Pilots stoked each balloon’s flame to coornidate with music playing near by.

It was so beautiful!

Five hot air balloons rested on the park’s baseball diamonds.

But wait! There’s more!

Another day, another tree...

After a quick pop past mom’s and dad’s place, it was time to head to Magnuson Park for the Winter Solstice Night Markets. The markets consist of about 100 pop-up shops located in the hanger of an old military base. Additionally, there was a beer garden and about 20 food trucks.

image

Records were purchased.

From there it was off to a local outdoor shopping center for shopping and dinner. No purchases were made, but some goodies have been added to Christmas lists. 🎄The shops were decorated with lights and the smell of Christmas Commerce filled the air. ☺️

image

Mmmmm..... food picture. What is this... Instagram? Eating at Elemental😂🤣🤣

So what is on the cards for today?

So far two things.... pj’s and couch. 😄 There is also a ridiculous amount (at least for me) of new silver in the house.... so will be sharing some of that with the #ssg crew later in the week. And who knows.... more Christmas activities might be in the hopper for tonight. 😁

Art bars, and pandas, and Christmas... OH MY!

Happy Sunday Steemit!

Please enjoy the Christmas song of the day.☺️

A beautiful life you have, my sweet @dfinney! What a great way to raise your children... with nice traditions. I like rallying on a Friday... you hubby must adore you, my friend!!!

@silversaver888 you always leave the kindest comments and I am behind on responding to them all! ☺️

The only kiddos I have are the 4 legged kind 🐶🐶 but I try to keep in the good books with my friend’s kids so they’ll look after me when I’m an oldie. 😄

Aside from the fact that we are both girl stackers, we have the same kiddos, and I have three... three yorkies... and they are absolutely my love and joy! I know that God made four legged domesticated creatures just for you and me!❤️🐶❤️🐶❤️🐶

Wow. So Much Stuff in this Post. My Favorite Photo is The Last One. I Don't know why, It Just Is...............@dfinney

🤔 I can’t possibly imagine the appeal of that last one. ☺️

What a wonderful weekend. The spirit of christmas is everywhere. I like when people share their experience. Is almost like I'm part of the journey... Merry christmas from Venezuela

Thank you for stopping by and commenting @wisejg! I hope you have a beautiful Christmas in Venezuela.

i love this post so much <3 you're such a warm and open spirit <3 <3 <3

im living away across the ocean from my family and i am vicariously enjoying the beautiful and festive moments you're sharing here <3 absolutely lovely to have come across this post today ! thank you~~

Ahh thanks @veryspider. You are too kind. Where are you and where is your family? I see Australia on your profile. Being away from the fam can be particularly tough this time of year. So much of the season is filled with nostalgia and distance is rough.

Hope you’ve had a lovely weekend! 🤗

Thanks so much ! Yes, weekend was thankfully quite enjoyable, despite quietness :)

Yep, I'm in Melbourne, Australia, and my family is a little all over the world at the moment, some are in Australia, but at the other coast, and the bulk of my family is in Asia. Mostly in HK, at the moment...

And yep, it is a difficult time of the year to be separated from them !

My husband grew up in Canberra. Having grown up in Seattle myself my first Christmas in Australia (summer v winter) and away from my big extended family was really weird. Hubs is going back there in a couple days with me staying in the states. So, I know what it is like having everyone spread around. Not the same as having everyone together. 💕
