How to Recognize a True Christian - Part 2

Some change dramatically when Christ gives them life.
Gives gifts to those they love.
While some might plot evil against them, some will be drawn to Christ in them.
Cares about eternity more than just this life.
Follows Jesus.
Knows where they are going.
Some acknowledge their faith and others do not out of fear and because they love human praise more than praise from God.
John 11

Will fight for protection of his/her family.
Believes the Lord and He counts it as righteousness.
Genesis 14-15

Follows Jesus’ example of a servant.
Is blessed by doing so.
Doesn’t always know or understand what Jesus is saying or doing, but will eventually.
Loves brothers and sisters in Christ as Christ has loved them. (This is the best evidence)
Sometimes even denies Christ. (Jesus promised that Peter would follow Him “where He was going” before prophesying his denial of Him.)
John 13

Is chosen by the Lord.
Commands his/her children to keep the way of the Lord by doing righteousness and justice, so that He may bring upon them all of the promises He has spoken.
Can reason with the Lord Who is reasonable.
Genesis 18
Knows the way to go by following Jesus Who is the Way.
Knows and sees God by knowing Jesus Who is His Son.
Believes in Jesus and therefore is enabled to do the works that He did and even greater.
Can ask anything in Jesus’ name, and He will do it.
Keeps God’s commandments.
Has the Holy Spirit Who is a Helper and the Spirit of Truth within which the world does not have.
Jesus discloses Himself to them who love Him.
Is taught by the Holy Spirit.
Has the peace of Jesus.
John 14

Receives the compassion and protection of the Lord through His angels.
Genesis 19

Is a “branch” on the “vine”, Jesus and bears “fruit”.
Is pruned by the Father, the “vinedresser” so that the branches that do can bear more, richer and more excellent fruit.
Is clean because of the teaching of Jesus spoken to them.
Abides (lives, makes their home) in Jesus and lets Him live in them.
Can ask whatever they will, and it shall be done…”fruit”.
Honors and glorifies the Father by producing much fruit. Shows and proves themselves to be true followers of Jesus.
Jesus has joy and delight in them, and their joy and gladness are of full measure and overflowing!
Is a friend of Jesus.
Has everything that has been revealed to Jesus by the Father.
Is hated and persecuted by the world.
Has the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby, Spirit of Truth) Who testifies of Jesus.
Also witnesses Jesus and testifies of Him.
John 15

Is kept from sinning by God.
Genesis 20

Is kept from stumbling by abiding in the Vine.
Has joy that no one will take away, even after grieving.
Can ask the Father for anything in Jesus’ name, He will give it to them.
Has courage and peace.
John 16

Knows the only true God and Jesus Christ, Whom He has sent.
Is not of the world (system).
Is kept from the evil one.
Is made pure and holy (sanctified) by the teaching of His truth.
Are one with God, Jesus and other Christians so that the world will know that God sent Him and loves them.
Sees Jesus’ glory and what God is like.
John 17

Is generous even when being treated wrongly.
Genesis 21

May even deny being a follower of Christ.
John 18

Is tested by God.
Obeys the Lord swiftly.
Trusts that He will provide what is needed and tells others, even when he or she doesn’t understand how or when.
Fears (reverences) God.
Blesses others.
Genesis 22

Doesn’t always admit to being a disciple. (Joseph of Arimathea)
John 19

Is fair and impartial
Genesis 23

Has received the Holy Spirit
Is sometimes doubtful.
Is blessed when believing without seeing.
John 20

The risen Lord cares for him/her.
Personally follows Christ, knowing that He has different plans for different people.
John 21

Can ask for signs from the Lord for guidance.
Receives lovingkindness from the Lord.
Can be made rich by the blessing of the Lord.
Has angels sent by the Lord to bring success.
The Lord appoints spouses for His children.
