PERSONAL SPIRITUAL LIFE 4 - RESULTS OF SALVATION

The spiritual life is all about progressing from being a worldly Christian to a spiritual Christian.

The previous post dealt with sanctification. This is VERY IMPORTANT as lots of Christians don't understand this and still think they must work their way into heaven. Please go read it if you have missed it.

Today we look at:

RESULTS OF SALVATION

A brief review of some of the results of salvation as they relate to the spiritual life will help us to keep things in perspective.

What did God do for us through Christ?

Redeemed us from slavery to sin.

John 8:31-36
31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
33 They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can You say, ‘You will be made free’?”
34 Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. 35 And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. 36 Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.

Forgave us the penalty of sin.

Acts 10:43 43 To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.”
Hebrews 9:26 He then would have had to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now, once at the end of the ages, He has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.

Justified us before God by declaring us not guilty and righteous before Him because Christ paid the penalty for us.

Romans 4:21-25 21 and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. 22 And therefore “it was accounted to him for righteousness.”[f]
23 Now it was not written for his sake alone that it was imputed to him, 24 but also for us. It shall be imputed to us who believe in Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead, 25 who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification.

Reconciled us to God and restored the right relationship which sin had broken.

Romans 5:10-11 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. 11 And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.
2 Corinthians 5: 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 9 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

Transferred us from Satan’s Kingdom to Christ’s Kingdom of light.

Colossians 1:13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,
Acts 26:18 to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.’
Ephesians 5:8-9 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the Spirit[b] is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord.

Accepted us in Christ just as we are

Romans 15:7 Therefore receive one another, just as Christ also received us,[b] to the glory of God.

Made us as new spiritual beings in Christ

2 Corinthians 5:16-17 Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Gave us eternal life in Himself.

1 John 5:11-12 And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

Gave us the Holy Spirit

John 7:38-39 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” 39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing[g] in Him would receive; for the Holy[h] Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
Acts 10:44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came down on all those who heard the message.

Freed us from the power of sin and our old nature.

Romans 6:6-7 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin. 7 For he who has died has been freed from sin.

Wonderful post, thank you for all your time invested in this. May God bless.

He did it all! The conundrum I have is many think they are in the family and they are not. The saddest scripture in the Bible, in my opinion, is when He say, Mat 7:23 “And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”
These folks that called Him Lord, Lord, even prophesied in His Name. Lived and died with the false confidence they were right with God.
If a murderer confesses faith in Jesus, but says, “I just want to kill one more person!” Is this person truly saved? It sound funny, but there is fruit meet for repentance. There is an expectation and reality of a change that comes from the conversion. As we are studying James, his writings show an expectation of the believer. Reading John’s letters, he also shows an expectation of the true convert. The demoniac, after one meeting with Jesus, was clothed, in his right mind, sitting at the feet of Jesus,
Without a doubt I believe we are saved by grace. Our faith in the finished Work of Jesus. But there is always proof or fruit. The true convert cannot and will not remain in their habitual sin!
Just like the woman caught in adultery, the Words of Jesus rings true. “Go and sin no more!”
Some teach an outward holiness. Some teach a greasy easy grace. Neither one is balanced in the Word of God. True holiness is an internal work that will definitely be seen in our daily life.
Joh 15:2 “Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.”

Joh 15:6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
