Random Shots Around Yulin
Just a little slice of life here in Yulin.
Active bee trading - I see this in front of our apartment from time-to-time
This is a pollution cannon. It is supposed to wash some of the pollution from the area. It creates rain over a surprisingly large area. At this distance (in the picture) our car was receiving a little bit of the condensation output.
This is what the pollution cannons were originally designed for - controlling dust at a construction site. It seems to be fairly effective in this photo. It's just not clear if they are effective at all on a city-wide basis.
This seems to be the result of Yulin's pollution control efforts - a little bit of roadside sludge.
Merchants the world over have discovered that nothing says "Spend money!" better than to stock a few Christmas goodies, have your workers wear little Santa hats, and play Christmas carols over the intercom.
A cook-it-yourself steak restaurant.
A typically Chinese case of gridlock. Chinese drivers will tend to go as FAR as they can in the direction they're going, until they are blocked, regardless of how many other cars THEY block.
A "Peking duck"-style restaurant near our home. Ducks are baked in the brick oven and then sold in the evening until they run out.
