Speelotheek toys (almost) for free & anti boring in summer holidays
As of now my 5 year old boy has a 6 weeks summer holidays. I just have to work most of the time (poor me 😋). So what can be so with all the available time without getting bored?
(Any tips? Feel free to shout them out!)
For weeks he was asking if we could go to the Speelotheek one more time, before they would be closed 6 weeks for their holiday season. The Speelotheek is like a library for toys and games.
So last night we went and he made his two choices. Funny thing is that he always tried to pick the smallest things. Lucky me that before we went he told me that we could NOT go there by feet or bike.
These were his small choices:

No closet needed. If I put it in the closet he directly starts screaming where are my Speelotheek toys? 😬
Ah, I see. Well, I've missed that boat in my life... and nowadays, I don't even wish for it anymore. I can always get a cat, if I need company. But kids? That's out of the question.

Well with this kind of weather everything with waterballoons is totally fiesta right?
And seriously I didnt know that the speelotheek still existed to be honest, how long can you keep the toys before you have to bring them back?
Water is indeed a brilliant idea!
Normally you can borrow the toys for a maximum of 3 weeks. In the summer holiday this is 7 weeks. Also because the Speelotheek is closed for 6 weeks.
Speel-o-theek dat is lang geleden. Als de kraan een bakje heeft waarmee je echt dingen heen en weer kan brengen, dan is water daar bij ook wel leuk. Een bakje water, met drijvende spullen, die dan met de kraan overbrengt naar een droge bak ofzo.
Verder zijn kinderen dol op gewoon met een deken naar het park of wat je in de buurt hebt en dan broodjes en limonade mee. Je kunt voetballen, maar ook kegelen als je wat lege flessen hebt en deze vult met wat zand of water.
En als het heeeel warm is, toch maar even een middagdutje.
Middag dutje is idd ook ideaal. Dan kan ik 's avonds langer met hem spelen. En om 20.00 voetballen is beter dan midden op de dag.

friend, children are very creative, try to leave everything to your imagination and let it experiment
At that age the only thing my kids really wanted was time, attention, and adventure. They will take the stuff, but if you can find ways to let there creative little minds run wild they will remember those days so much more then time spent playing with toys.
Yeah that is right.
He really loves it when I play together with him. Although most of the time I don't even understand what fantasy game I need to play.
To bad most of us have to work like 30-50 hours per week 😩
Sounds like vacation at 30-50 hours...I'm self employed. That means I work 80 hours plus a week so I don't have to listed to some jackass tell me what to do for 40 hours a week.
That is really a lot of hours working each week. I'm also self employed but I work about 45 hours per week. And then I have an additional 15 hours of travel time.
Van I be so curious to ask what you do for a living and in which country?

It's a love/hate with those days. I am so glad I no long have to think up actvities, but I miss it all the same. We'd go to the park, walks (when the temperature allowed.) Lots of painting, coloring and storytelling. Enjoy your time, it goes quickly.
