Giving way to Thursday -Forces in Nature - Yolanda
On a fateful morning of November 8, 2013, Philippines got its deadliest typhoon record killing atleast 6,300 people. Tacloban City was badly hit by this Typhoon Yolanda (with international name Typhoon Haiyan)that even the news anchor of Philippine local news broke out in tears as he was reporting the aftermath of the typhoon. Houses were washed away, debris and sadly, dead bodies scattered everywhere - in less than 6 hours after its landfall in Tacloban. Most of the residents have lost their loved ones and it was really a heartbreaking scene to watch them cry begging for help to find them.
Our small town was hit too - coconut trees were snapped in half, trees fell down, some of our neighbors' roofs were blown away, my bestfriend's house who happened to be our neighbor was destroyed but these can not be compared to the destruction Yolanda caused to Tacloban.
Days later, help poured out from all over the world. Funds, foods, and clothes. THANK YOUworld. We, the Filipinos, will always be grateful.
We also have our small group of Filipino here in UAE, the OFWs who organized the collection of old clothes and foods like packed noodles, canned foods which we sent to Tacloban.

STARTING OVER
Residents of Tacloban managed to start over again - from coping with the loss of their loved one to rebuilding their destroyed houses and some claimed they have better houses today unlike before Yolanda struck. Regardless of what happened, with everything has been taken away from them, Filipinos' courage and strength can always be seen. Try to go around, you'll see a bunch of Filipino people smiling despite the crisis and disaster.
