My Thursday Favourites #7 Contest! – My favorite flower, Orchid Cattleya Mossiae, national symbol and of the hope of a new rebirth as a people.
Greetings dear readers, I present my favorite flower
Today I want to share with you, some pictures of the first flowers of the year, of one of my favorite plants, it is the Cattleya Mossiae orchid, normally its inflorescence period is during the month of May, which is why, here in Venezuela it is also known as Flor de Mayo. Another interesting detail about this beautiful flower is that from 1951, it became our national flower.
My dear maternal grandparents, who died some 17 years ago, were wonderful beings and worked all their lives on land, in a very beautiful place, very close to the sea, located in Rio Caribe, Sucre State, Venezuela. One of my best memories of childhood, and that I treasure in a very special place of my heart, are its nights, where I slept, with the whisper of the waves when caressing the white sand beach. Another memory that I keep of my grandparents, is that they had the belief, that if it rained the first days of the year, this would be a good and productive year. When I discovered the orchids in my little garden at the beginning of the new year, I could not stop remembering my grandparents and harboring in my heart the hope and hope that this early flowering is the signal of a national awakening and the beginning of a new stage of change that will allow us to recover as a nation and a people.

Ooo beautiful orchids! I love purple and white and pink orchids! I am trying to grow some now but they haven't bloom. I hope they will soon :) It is really nice that you have them flowering in your garden and you are able to remember your lovely maternal grandparents with all your childhood memories.
