Nine cat lives (part 6) short and intense
An acquaintance of an acquaintance (a GP living somewhere in the middle of the country), owned a large, black cat and a large, leather-look lounge.
The black cat owned beautiful, sharp nails.
You can imagine what could happen ...
So that happened.
So ... the cat had to be euthanized ...
Because the GP was a GP, he thought he better might do the euthanization by himself, on the assumption that if he would take the black cat to the SPCA, they would do it anyway. They have a huge surplus of cats, isn't it?
The GP went to a befriended pharmacist for a 'special mix'. What kills humans, will also kills an animal, right?
What's the weight of such a being? Four, five kilos?
No sooner said than done, and that same evening the GP and his wife found the 'right moment'. Better have it done as soon as possible.
SHOT ... ..
And the black cat became dizzy ...
The floor started to move ...
The stars were so close by, he almost could grab them ...
The murderer and his wife watched the beautiful, healthy, sweet, black cat for 2 minutes.
For 5 minutues.
For 10 minutes.
But ... the black cat started to purr.
And he crawled onto the executioner's lap!
The black cat was drunk for 3 days and also purred for 3 days in a row, before he was completely recovered.
And for some reason, his executioner didn't dare to try it again.
Still, I thought the black cat better should live with me, after I heard this story of mutual acquaintance, which -of course- told this story explicitly to me. I already had 3 cats and I lived with my mister in a very small apartment, but we already had visited a lot of real estate agents to find a larger home, so ... if the GP could please show some patience for a little while more?
He promised.
Every day I tried to send some thoughts to the black, still unknown cat, and hoped that he noticed something of it.
On a snowy day in January, shortly after we had moved into our new house, the GP and his wife came to bring the black cat. It was a 1 hour drive and I had sent them the directions. It could not go wrong.
Right on the agreed time I heard the doorbell and a few minutes later the black cat was unloaded from his basket. He looked a bit drowsy. He checked his new surrounding and as quickly as possible he 'drunk walked' to the couch to lie down underneath it.
A drunk walk?
Wasn't he fully recovered then?
Yes, but the GP had given him a quarter of Oxazepam. Because of the long journey.
I felt a kind of a cold blur in my head, but ... we smiled and offered them coffee. Even a beer.
After 2 hours we waved them out and quickly closed the curtains.
Our new family member.
We called him Anton. Named to Anton Geesink. A national boxing champion.
They both were so strong.
For a year and a half I have been fully in love with the velvet black cat.
He was so handsome and so polite. He had an enchanting look. I couldn't refuse him anything.
If he meowed, he said very wise words. If he ran by, it was like dancing!
But our new house was located along busy road ...
Fortunately I didn't see him myself.
Very early in the morning one of the road workers had to bury a dead black cat. Shortly later I heard it was near our house in the soil of the verge. I had put some flowering plants on that particular spot.
And the little cat -we once brought from France- spent a whole week on the fence, staring in the distance.
It was her best friend!
