After some time without any health issues, this cat would soon be known as the first Cornish Rex cat that we know of today. The cat would then be back crossed to reproduce another litter which featured two other cats with similar features. As the breeding efforts progressed, the Cornish Rex would eventually see additional breeds being crossed for a wider gene pool. For instance, the introduction of the Siamese genome would see even more variation over time.

One of the common characteristics of the Cornish Rex cat is its curly coat that almost exhibits a wave like pattern. This cat possesses a distinctly different fur coat and will seem almost seem to have a wool texture. The early breeds of the Cornish Rex suffered from breeding restrictions that saw interbreeding. This lead to the eventual weakening of the resulting kittens and many health issues were suffered. The solution to this would come in the way of a survivor that would be crossed through exportation and later back crossed to realise an official breed.
