1975 Lamborghini Countach LP400 (Sold)
For me, all started with this Blue Smurf (in reality Blu Tahiti) 1975 Lamborghini Countach LP400 Periscopica, it was the first car sold through auction that I followed. This Countach was sold in June 2014 through Bonhams for $1,210,000. So beautiful car, when art meets car :-) with this bright blue, the interior and the doors... Just wahoo.
History of the Lamborghini Countach
In order to forget the legendary Miura, Lamborghini presented in 1971 at Geneva Salon the Countach designed by Marcello Gandini, Italian car designer working for Bertone. The nickname comes from a Piedmontese dialect expression meaning Holy smokes, the shock of one person seeing the car for the first time.
The production began in 1974 and the designated LP400 (LP stands for Longitudinale Posteriore) was known as the Periscopica because of its central periscope for rear-view. Only 150 examples were built in 3 years of production.
Ah! The doors...
Technical Specification
The Lamborghini Countach LP400 boasts a 3,929 cc DOHC V12 engine with 6 Weber carburetors delevering 375 hp (with a top speed of 270 kmh).
Very nice Naturale tan leather interior and ss all LP400's, the dashboard was fitted with a kmh speedometer and Celsius temperature gauges. So 70's and 80's.
