History of the Ferrari Dino 246 GT
At the Turin Motor Show in 1967, Ferrari presented the Dino 206 GT in order to compete for the new Formula Two with success on the tracks ( Derek Bell and Ernesto Brambill won races in the European Championship and Andrea de Adamich in the 1968 Argentine Temporada series). The car was named after Alfredino Ferrari, the late son of Enzo Ferrari.
In late 1969, with a steel coachwork by Scaglietti a 2.4 litre version with a longer wheelbase is produced, the 246 GT. . This model was bought by Keith Richards in 1972 and used during European Rolling Stones tours (more than 40,000 km before it was sold in 1986).
