After finishing the year 2018 with one 1965 Shelby GT350, we start 2019 with another American muscle car, 1967 Chevrolet Camaro SS 396/375 Convertible heading to auction this January through Gooding & Company for about $US 250,000.

History of the Chevrolet Camaro
The first-generation of the Camaro was produced between September 1966 and 1969. Chevrolet wanted to offer a lot of packages and options in order to the client could customize his car. Three main packages were available :
- RS : Rally Sport for the appeareance of the car with hidden headlights, exterior bright trim... 64,842 examples were produced.
- SS : Super Sport the performance package with an engine upgrade with 350 / 396 cu V8. 34,411 examples.
- Z/28 : the package to compete in the SCCA Trans-Am series with a 302 V8, 4 speed transmission, power front disc brakes. Only 602 were produced.
This model is rare L78 Camaro convertible, one of the 27 examples known to still exist (only 150 convertibles were built in 1967). The L78 was a Big-Block engine producing 375 hp. The car was known on the Super Stock drag races as the Batcar with its livery inspired by the Batman franchise. In two seasons, the car had multiple successes including SS/1A Class Champion at the AHRA and NHRA Winternationals in 1969.

This Chevrolet Camaro SS 396/375 Convertible has an 396 CID L78 OHV V8 engine with single holley 4 barrel barburetor producing 375 hp at 5,600 rpm.
The car was restored in its original Tuxedo Black livery with original gold interior.
