History of the Aston Martin DB4GT
The Aston Martin DB4 is a GT (Gran Tourer) produced from 1958 to 1963. With a completely new body, the DB4 remplaced the DB Mark III with an engine designed by Tadek Marek, Polish automobile engineer. In five-year of production and modifications, the models of DB4 has five different series.
This model, DB4GT, was developed specifically to contest the FIA's Grand Touring Car World Championship of 1960. With its lightweight, it was presented at the 1959 London Motor Show and featured many modifications compared with the standard DB4 Coupe, especially in order to trim the weight.
Technical specification
The Aston Martin DB4GT has the 3,670cc twin overhead camshaft in-line 6 cylinder engine witht three Weber 45DCOE twin-choke carburettors produced 302 hp at 6,000 rpm. The bodywork is based on the Superleggera principle for a overall weight of only 1,128kg. Only 75 DB4GT were produced.
