1949 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Super Sport
This summer, at Carmel (US), during Quail Lodge Auction, this stunning 1949 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Super Sport will heading to auction through Bonhams. No price yet but in 2010, a black model was sold for about $US 325,000, so the price may be going north.
History of the Alfa Romeo 6C 2500
The model 6C was produced since 1925 by Alfa Romeo and was firstly designed by the engineer Vittorio Jano, Italian automobile designer (who worked for Alfa Romeo, Lancia and Ferrari). The final model of the 6C was the *2500 was introduced in 1938 (in production until 1952). During WWII, the Alfa Romeo's factory in Portello (Italy) was destroyed, the production resumed only in 1946.

This Alfa Romeo 6C 2500SS has a coachwork designed by Carrozzeria Pinin Farina.
Pinin Farina with this Super Sport cabriolet, could experiment a new design solution. And it was a success, the car win the first place at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este in 1949.
Technical specification
The 2,443 cc DOHC inline 6 cylinder engine with 3 Weber carburettors and 4 speed manual transmission produced 110 hp. The Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 has :
- independent front suspension with coil springs,
- independent rear suspension with swing axles and torsion bars,
- and 4 wheel drum brakes.
With this exceptional restoration, this Super Sport retrieves its red painting over cream interior leather.

That's a slick little machine, I don't know about the yellow handles though, I think it would of look better if they were the same colour as the steering wheel, cheers mate.
