1971 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Spider Conversion
During its Auburn Fall 2018 sale (30 August - 2 September 2018), RM Sotheby's will auction this superb for about $US 500,000.
Last April, a black 1973 Berlinetta version was proposed for more of $US 700,000, too expensive, and it was unsold. Will this open-top version find a buyer ?
History of the Ferrari 365 GTB
The Ferrari 365 GTB/4, aka Ferrari Daytona, was presented at the Paris Auto Salon in 1968 and was produced from 1968 to 1973. This model was named after the Ferrari's victory at the Daytona 24 Hours in the US in 1967 with the Ferrari 330 P4 prototype driven by Lorenzo Bandini and Chris Amon and also for the 1-2-3 finish at the same race in 1972.
The car replaced the 275 GTB/4 in the segment of V12 GT (Grand Tourer) with a new style, more angular, its nose with Plexiglas and its Kamm tail(designed by the German aerodynamicist Wunibald Kamm in order to reduce the drag of the vehicule). Initially the car was only offered as a Berlinetta, but the demand was huge for an open-top spider.
Technical specification
The 365 GTB/4 has a 4,390cc Colombo V12 engine with 5-speed manual transmission for a top speed of 281 kmh and from 0 to 100kmh in 5.72s.
This model is a left-hand-drive with european-specification and beautifully finished in traditional Rossa Corsa over black leather interior.
