This stunning 1955 Alfa Romeo 1900C SS Coupe with its superb example of Carrozzeria Touring is about to hit the auction block during the Scottsdale Sale though Gooding & Company for about $US 275,000.

History of the Alfa Romeo 1900

The Alfa Romeo 1900 was presented in 1950 at the Paris Motor Show. The production started in 1950 to terminate in 1959. The model was designed by Orazio Satta, Italian automobile designer working with Alfa Romeo.

In 1955, Alfa Romeo updated its model with a more powerful version thanks to dual overhead cam inline 4-cylinder motor. This example five-window Superleggera Coupe is competition version SS, Super Sprint, with a lightweight short-chassis thanks to Carrozzeria Touring.

Specification

With its 1,975 cc DOHC inline 4-cylinder engine and twin solex carburetors, the Alfa Romeo 1900C SS Coupe produces 115 hp at 5,500 rpm. You have also 5-speed manual gearbox with 4 wheel hydraulic drum brakes.

The car was restored in 90's in Japan, and upgraded for vintage racing. Nice model with this coachwork in red & black...
