1933 Aston Martin Le Mans 2nd Series
Heading to the auction block during The Bonmont Sale the September 29th through Bonhams, this 1933 Aston Martin Le Mans 1½-Litre 2nd Series 'Long Chassis' Tourer is a special kind of cool for an estimate price of $US 400,000.
History of the Aston Martin Le Mans
The Aston Martin Le Mans was a sports car produced between 1932 and 1934. It was named Le Mans thanks to the competition version that won the 1931 Le Mans race in its class (5th overall). The next year the model placed 5th and 7th. It is the first car named after this race.
In 1932, the Aston Martin Le Mans was sold for £ 650 but sales wasn't there, period of economic recession. In 1933, the price dropped to £ 595 with a new bodywork (2nd Series) in order to reduce cost. Also a long chassis was available for four seats. 85 2nd Series were produced and of these only 17 with long-wheelbase.
Specification
This Aston Martin Le Mans has 1.5 liter 4 cylinder engine mated to 4 speed manual. It can reach 80 kmh in 16 seconds with a top speed of 137 kmh.
This example was completely restored in 2013 in Switzerland, finished in black over red leather interior. Beautiful for the last summer days.
