My indoor cannabis garden is thriving after soil upgrades!
Featuring...
"No Beef":
And the other Steem OG, "Ace", my favourite:
And the Northern Lights females, including "Beauty":
And the lovely "Kaila":
The soil upgrade I posted about here is really paying off. There was no down-time after transplanting, and growth has clearly increased in the past couple days.
The diatomaceous earth, while slightly hard to find, is worth every dollar. It instantly removed all trace of the unidentified mites which had moved in to my garden at the start of this crop. They never appeared to do any direct harm, but it's unlikely they were doing any good, and they've been neutralized safely and quickly! I definitely recommend diatomaceous earth (basically, tiny shards of sharp sand particles that destroy insects and other bugs). It doesn't change the nutritional composition of your soil. Not too expensive.
And the plants are clearly loving the natural array of nutrients provided by the worm castings. I'm definitely going to pursue worm castings further in my cultivation methods.
They're 2.5 months old and about ready for the flip to flowering mode. I don't plan to stretch them out. Once the Steem OG plants' sexes are known I'll make decisions about what to keep, etc.
I love having a healthy garden and can't wait to see their flowers!
"Hans" the runt can be seen in front of the garden. I'm keeping him/her around just in case.
Grow in peace.

Thank you very much for your support!
just gorgeous! upvoted.
Looking great! I really like the idea of mixing in diatomaceous earth as an insect control that has zero impact on smokeability. Great idea.
Thanks for your comment and you're right, it's completely inert to plants, can't be absorbed, it's made of Silicone Dioxide aka sand, just in tiny jagged particles instead of larger blocks. The plants don't even know its there but it deals with bugs within hours. I don't think I could imagine a better solution, if I had such a power. I mixed some into the new soil for the transplant, then dusted a little around the edges of each pot. It was an instant fix.
(For anyone wondering, the diatomaceous particles aren't able to harm microbes, so any fungi mycellium, beneficial bacteria, and other parts of your living soil won't be harmed.)
The one I grabbed was $8 for a large shampoo-sized bottle of the dust.
oh wow that is super expensive. You can actually buy it in much larger quantities for cheap prices. Usually you can find it for around $1 a pound or so in the larger bags. I have a 25 pound bag of it that I have had for years now LOL
Haha, the joys of apartment life! Nowhere for a 25 pound bag of dust, would have had to throw it in the dumpster after using a handful to get rid of the mites :P
LOL yeah it helps to have a garage for that sorta stuff :)
That's why you pay the big bucks! A garage is a wonderful thing. Even for people without anything to park in it!
Nice, cant wait!
Thank you mister breeder!! Me too!
