Cannabis Day 2018 Vancouver (photo album)

Happy Cannabis Day! July 1st has been celebrated as Cannabis Day for years before it was ever called "Canada Day". Besides, the cannabis plant is even more beneficial and important than the mighty maple.

Thornton Park is in downtown Vancouver, just beside the Main Street skytrain station, a block from Science World and the ocean. It's a beautiful spot with great trees although that part of town is fairly poor and there's a lot of addiction. Nevertheless we certainly tidy and brighten it up each Cannabis Day, and leave it spotless afterward.

Here are a few of my signs. I've got 10 or more really nice ones now. The cops got some, drunks destroyed some, but I keep remaking and repairing them and bringing them to events to get my views out. They start lots of good conversations.

Just to give you an idea of the farmers market that arises at Cannabis Day each year. This is a tradition that has developed and grown "grassroots" style here in Vancouver and has spread to other places in recent years.

Every possible cannabis-related item is available, from silly $50 joints with half an ounce of weed in them, to high quality oils, lotions, creams and other topicals. The edibles are varied and extremely high quality - some of the best bakers in the world operate in the Vancouver edibles underground!

There's @MediKatie at the $2 Dab station, taking a staff dab.

A lot of activists were present to interact with the public and give speeches. This has always been a vital part of Cannabis Day as well. That's David-Malmo Levine (above).

And there's Neil Magnuson (above) talking about the dangers of cannabis legalization and reminding listeners that there is much work to be done before we're anything resembling "Free".

There was live music as well as a DJ throughout the afternoon. Crowds grew as the sun really came out and the sky turned a proper blue colour.

There was a joint giveaway just before 4:20 and the park was busy with action.

Don't forget about BC Bud Day in just 5 weeks, also at Thornton Park! Gonna be a blast! :)

I hope you enjoyed the photos. Can you just about smell that dank goodness? Several thousand of us had a great time. See you for Cannabis Day 2019, because cannabis prohibition unfortunately isn't going anywhere!

That would be a fun day to take a trip up north!

Yeah, line it up with whichever event you want to attend, and give me some advance notice, and we'll make it a trip to remember :)
I don't have anywhere to have people sleep here, but I can have friends over to hang out and dab, and I'd be glad to show you around and such. If you don't have something like this there (and it's unlikely you do because it's pretty unique) then it's something to see. A bit of an unknown gem, compared to cliche cannabis spots like Jamaica and Amsterdam. Still, I do want to check out Jamaica someday :p

I saw your wife on the top of google for bc bud day 😃

Would be super cool to make it up, I’ll see if I can figure it out to get away for a day but don’t make any plans for me just yet 👍

Nice!
Hahah, we just did the search too and there she is. :)
I'm actually there in the images if you scroll down a little, exhaling a dab at night. That's about the clearest picture of me there is online.

Haha too funny! It's a small world. So glad to see BC bud Day growing :) :)

Ya, I saw it. Looking good, funny to see the voice fit the face
